Almost all units do, required by law for protection. It may be the familiar looking one or a part that serves that function that does of course not look like a fuse.

My R-651ZM microwave purchased 11-19-2013 quit completely. no lights no clock.electric receptical is o.k.Is there an internal fuse in the unit? Thank You Calvin Simonds

There is probably two internal fuses but they rarely give trouble unless there is a fault that caused the fuse to blow.

Just a word of caution - there are potentially lethal voltages inside, sometimes even when switched off, so it is unwise to remove the cover unless you really know what you are doing.

MY CONTROL PANEL DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THE NIGHT LIGHT IS ALSO NOT WORKING. THE SERIAL NO. IS 900170B THANK YOU, MYRTA JACOBO EMAIL: MYRTA JACOBO@HOTMAIL.COM CELLULAR NUMBER 786-285-4262

Sorry to read about your problem.
It seems your have a general failure in the power control or switch failure on the unit.

  1. No power to outlet (blown fuse or tripped breaker or GFCI).
  2. Blown main fuse - likely due to other problems.
  3. Open thermal protector or thermal fuse.
  4. Defective controller or its power supply.
  5. Clock needs to be set before other functions will operate (some models).
Microwaves must be serviced by technicians due to the inherent dangers involved in repairing these appliances. Internal capacitors can retain a lethal electrical charge even though the unit is completely unplugged. A microwave radiation leakage test must be performed on the unit following any internal component repair.

I have a emerson microwave and all of a sudden it quit heating

Do you have any lights or display? If no it could be an internal fuse which you will have to unplug the unit and remove the cover. Look for a fuse, which should be in a socket, but I have also seen them soldered in line on the board. If lights and display work then you are looking at the Magnetron tube which could be defective.

My JennAir M170 just quit working, nothing.........bought in 1998. Time for a new one? If so, how do I go about just getting the micro for the combo unit? Or do I have to buy an whole new combo unit?

I would at least have a service tech look at it. Here are the comon items to check most of the time when a microwave just quits. 1 the internal fuse. 2 the power diode 3 the large capacitor 4. door open / closed micro-switches 5 the magnetron. The least likely suspect is the control panel yet can also cause the problem. You should still be able to keep this unit in service cost effectively. Until I had it checked out I would not give up on it.

change the units internal ceramic fuse and try this, may just be a fuse or if new one blows then could be h.v. diode.capacitor, thermal fuse, magnetron tube

sounds like the mag fan went out and blew the internal fuse they are ceramic fuses 15 or 20 amp available at hardware stores ,if this blows again it could be the mag overheated, but the thermal breaker should have shut it off before this, thenit can also be your h.v. diode or capacitor shorted

No light, internal fan...then no display

The light isn't a safety issue but I would think that the fan would be.

The fan is designed to remove excess heat from unit and keep it cool. Without the fan, you're now operating the unit under conditions that it wasn't designed for.

With the unit unplugged, try removing the cover and see if a fuse has blown. If so, replace it with the EXACT value of the original.

See if the unit powers up again. Try heating heating up something for 30 seconds to see if the Magnetron is still functioning.

If so, check to see if the bulb is good. Did the bulb and fan stop at the same time? If so, it might be something in common that controls both.

Don't operate it further until you have it looked at. You don't want to cause something else to fail.

Good luck!
