Question about Televison & Video
I have hooked up all the cords correctly and checked the batteries by buying new ones. I couldn't turn the box on but since I bought new batteries it will turn on the box now. I made sure that it's on the correct channel and turn everything on but nothing appears but fuzz.
Check first to see if a DVD player alone connected to one of the rear audio/video inputs works or not----this will narrow things down and may provide a way around the problem.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

The only way your going to change the video mode is with the original remote. If you need another remote go to http://remotes.com or call 1800 remotes Theres a button on the upper left hand side of the remote called video mode. A universal most of the time will not work this function. You could ask around to your friends and buddies or relitives if anyone has a working Sanyo remote or go to a local retailer that sells Sanyo and see if he would let you borrow one for a little while so you can switch out of the video mode. Good Luck

SOURCE: how to run channel auto scan
Okay here's how you do it. Sadly they buried this DEEP in the user guide and I stumbled across it -
Press the TV Menu button then with the < or > arrows scroll to the Channel menu. From there you can select the auto scan.
