The backlight quit working

Most likely you broke one or both wire from the backlight to the circuit board. Open the unit up and look for a black and red wire. Both should be soldered to the circuit board. LED's are used for the backlight and so it does make a different that the back and red wire are soldered to the circuit board correctly.

When you opened up the unit, you probably loosened one of the wires. Look to see if there is a small, short black wire and a small short red wire attached to the screen and soldered onto the circut board. They control the back light and one of them may be loose or disconnected. It can be repaired if you have a fine enough soldering tool.

Did You try holding dowm the on/off button for 3 seconds after you turn it on?

How long does it try to find the satellites? If it trys for a half hour of more with no results, the antenna may be broken. I have read in other forms that people have added an external antenna and their units would then work, evfen with the built in antenna broken.

Have you tried firmware update for your gps .
If you have not tried it try to update the latest firmware .
By updating firmware your problem can be fixed .



If your problem still continues then you need to take your gps to near by shop to get it repaired .

This happened to me, too, when I replaced the battery. Turns out one of the wires that affects the brightness came loose. I found the loose wire, touched it to a few places where I thought it should go, and one of them caused the screen to come on to full bright.

I was extremely nervous dealing with this - never soldered in such tight quarters before, but once I soldered it down, the problem was solved. I have other problems with my ique - like extremely limited battery life - but the brightness problem is solved.

I have a similar problem but I can't turn the GPS off at all, even when the antenna is down. As far as the power on/off cycle, I found another link on this site that said to turn off WAAS while the GPS is off then when you turn it on the unit will not power cycle continuously. You loose the WAAS feature but the GPS and unit still works.

eBay or other online sites like that, search for sold 'as is' for parts.
However you can't have mine... it works just fine. ;>D

Could it possibly be your backlight setting? I had a problem with my screen staying dark until i set the brightness level.
settings -> system -> backlight -> brightness -. then adjust your settings.

Does it work with an external antenna hooked up? If it does, it could be a problem with the flip-up internal antenna.
