Re: the lap top computer screen is loose
Those screens tend to lose their tightness as time goes on from all the opening and closing. Regrettably, there isn't much to be done with them except replacement of the part. You can jury rig it but that's about it. I,too, had a zv5000 and experienced the same thing.

The problem is most likely the video cable from the motherboard to the LCD screen has become loose and needs to be reseated back in place. It will need somebody to do a partial dis-assembly to fix the issue or a computer technician.
If it is that loose it is worn out in the case on the mother board now this is a simple replacement of a little plastic adapter. They are relatively inexpensive but the repair is not. It is complete removal of parts from the lap top to get to this part. If not done correctly your lap top will suffer serious issues and may have to have the whole board replaced. I strongly advise that you take this in to a repair shop or make it work by gently take a pair of pliers "Needle Nose" and gently squeeze the tip I mean gently so as to not break the wiring seal or anything else. Do it just enough to stay on the pin on your lap top.
Take this in if you can afford it and get it done properly is my first option. You are responsible for it if you go with that suggestion of a gentle squeeze not much very gentle and once until it stays in that is all. This is what I would do first it is cheaper to replace another cord than a board repair. John

hi msinon, connect another external screen to the IBM-machine to check if simply the screen is broken. If that does not help, remove the RAM-memory module (see instructions or manual), retry booting up without it, if still not lucky, the mainboard is broken and you will have to exchange it or get another new machine. Think of transferring the old harddisk to the new laptop or keeping it as an external back-up source(you will have to buy an USB to SATA adaptor plus harddisk case) sa you can use it like a flash drive...
On most models the hinges are a pressed in, pressure brake type hinges, and when the hinge start getting worn to the point of not holding the screen, then they can only be replaced in order to fix it. You can sometimes get away with replacing just one. On some models there are screws on the hinges that come loose that can cause this. The screws aren't for adjusting, they are basically just set screws. You won't know which is the problem until you take the covers off. Most likely you're going to have to replace the hinges. Try Ebay for the replacements.
