Try to keep the Flash setting on ISO-setting of 100 constant and adjust your aperture setting on the flash..Do not try to sync with the camera settings..it will normally work...for example.if your camera setting is as this: ISO-400, shutter speed is 125 and aperture is F8, then keep the flash setting as i mentioned above.this setting in an evening environment in a hotel or party event. this may help...

SOURCE: Metz 45 CT-1 Outup Calibration
I have a 45CT-1 Service Manual, but it's in German. If I knew what to look for, I could probably find what you want. I know some German, but not enough to follow the technical description in the manual.

What do you mean by adaptor?! You will need to by a hotshoe adaptor with a hole that talkes the old style cable plug from your Metz lead and away you go! Try jessops. (As long as you have the lead from your Metz!?

Raise the tiltable head the number is embossed below it(at chin side).Near hinge.
That means if you tilt flash head fully upward the number is exactly at the opposite side of Flash power calculator dial(Two inch round chart).
