Tv turns itself on and off frequently

Check to see if this is an RCA CTC203 chassis (listed on back of set) if so there is common problem with bad solder connections in the horizontal drive section - Otherwise state the model for more help.

Connect laptop to RCA - F25305

What kind of computer do you have? There wuold have to be a video out or SVHS plug out from your computer. And a video or SVHS input to your TV. If both are physically available then there should be a computer configuration so your laptop can output to your TV.

The tv is turned on, stays on for about 5 seconds and then turns off.

You can try unpluggin the power cord for five minutes, then pluggin it back in and seeing what happens. If it still happens, there is something wrong inside the set and it is shutting itself down to prevent further damage. In that case, you'll need to have a professional look at it.

Hope this helps, and please rate my advice, good OR bad.

Good luck!!
