Question about Vizio P50HDTV20A 50 in. Plasma HDTV
I have a Vizio p42 that I paid way too much for in 2005. I need to find and replace the fuses, since a visual inspection of the caps show nothing swollen, no burn spots on the back of Power Supply (3501Q00053A). It is doing the familiar, 'some lights, then no lights' nonsense that I have read about. I think I found one, that is marked 8 amp 250 v on the PS, but it is a small enclosed grey- brown box, looking like nothing I have ever seen. So two questions Is that box a fuse, and where in the world can I get another (I would like to replace the other three white ceramic fuses I found scatter on the y and z boards as well, but I cannot find THEM for sale!)? I can find nothing similar at Digi, or anywhere else!
The fuses can be purchased here:

You are not going to find the fuses as Vizio and all makers do not sell parts---only complete circuit boards are sold--saves on stocking, selling and shipping thousands of parts on a individual basis.
I would Google the model number with "parts" to locate one of several vendors selling the boards----the part with 8 amp 250 volts is a fuse and special----smarter to test the fuses or read voltage across them.

My P42 has same problem. Factory says it is the power supply to vidio.. They want me to pay someone to remove it. Then they want $162.00 to repair it (no new ones available). Looks like a 3 or 4 hundred dollar problem.
Gee maybe I'll run down to Costco and buy another Vizio, Right.

This means you have a dead short, It is probably a Diode in the power supply area, but without testing board you don't know. If you know basic electronics, i would say check all diodes in power supply and look hard for something burnt and replace that also. Or just replace power board, check shopjimmy.com
