My dryer wont start at all. what could it be? a thermal fuse?

It could be either the thermal fuse or the door switch. You can check the door switch usually by just pressing it in and listening for a click to know that it is engaging. Here is a link to replacing the thermal fuse.

I HAVE A WHIRLPOOL DRYER AND WHEN I PLUG IT IN TO THE OUTLET IT WONT START I CHECKED EVERYTHING I BELIEIVE THAT THERE IS NOT ELECTRICITY GOING THRU THE MOTOR

Have you checked the thermal fuse. Whirlpool models wont start if thermal fuse is bad. You can test this by unplugging dryer. Remove back panel and down near the left center at bottom there are two fuses. One is either a white sliver looking or oval shaped. It is the only one with two wires. Connect the two wires wrap in electrical tape securely and than plug it in and try to start. If this works unplug and replace thermal fuse. They are pretty cheap and its a safety feature. If does not work you can comment me back and I can help you further.

Kenmore electric dryer Model #66512692 makes a clicking noise when push start. Cleaned out so there is no air blockage and still will not start.

Hello & Welcome to FixYa

When the Thermal fuse of the dryer goes bad it wont turn on or will make clicking noise as it is doing right now. You can check the thermal fuse for continuity, if it is open then the thermal fuse needs replacement however, if the fuse tests continuity then check the control board (if that is bad then it needs replacement). Please get back to me if you have any other questions.

Dryer wont start

Sounds like the thermal fuse has blown, pull back panel and ohm the thermal fuse. if open replace. Then find the reason the thermal fuse is blowing- restricted airflow, over heating.

Kenmore dryer model 64602 wont turn on???

Check the thermal fuse on the rear of the dryer.
Remove the rear panel. The thermal fuse is 1 and 1/2 inches long by 1/2 inch wide. White in color and located just left of the dryer exhaust vent. 2 purple wires. Jump the wires together and start the dryer. If it runs, replace the thermal fuse.

Electric dryer wont start

Just replace the thermal fuse for now. You have gotten good use from this machine. But, this is also may be the beginning of the end. Thermal fuses are not expensive either. These things just go out at no uncertain times.

Dryer wont start replace new swtich and new cord

Hi there,

Well most gas dryers have one thermal fuse and some have two thermal fuses wired in series with the motor. If any of the thermal fuses are blown that could be one of the reasons of your dryer not starting. So first of all you may check out the fuse.

Good Luck!!
