Blue water stains are not caused by hard or soft water. Blue water or bluish green water is caused by the PH of the water. Low PH can corrosion of plumbing (copper lines) causing bluish green water or water high in alkalinity/PH can cause the same issue. Therefore there is no adjustment on the softener to correct this. I suggest a PH test to see what it is. If the PH is 6.5 or lower a calcite filter is recommended to raise the PH.

I have a gainsborough ps1600 shower. Water pressure has dropped. Doesn't help when head is removed. Can still adjust temperature but not speed/power

If the water pressure dropped at a sudden moment, it sounds more like an issue with the water pressure leading into your shower, and not a problem with the shower its self. Try seeing if other water sources in the same area of your shower have the same low water pressure issue.

Cabinet style water softeners (GE, Whirlpoool, Kenmore, Sears) are very inefficient at removing iron. They are not designed for water with high iron content such as yours. I might suggest setting the hardness level up as high as it can go (100gpg). Indications that water softener resin is getting fouled with iron are exactly as you described. Rusty water the day after a regeneration. You may need an iron filtration system before the softener so all the water softener has to do is remove the hardness.
Here is a link for an iron filtration system that works with air. Very simple, works very well.

I had the same problem. My building manager showed me that you have to yank the circular portion at the end the of spout where the water comes out downward and the water will be diverted to the showerhead.

Make sure you are diluting the fabric softener before putting it into the dispenser drawer. Full strength softener will sometimes stain clothing that's why in the owners manual they always tell you to dilute it first before adding ,plus it last a lot longer and is just as affective... Hope tis helps

white residue could be lime deposits from the minerals in your water,or corrosion if metal is aluminum. try CLR cleaner for lime deposits, use a piece of aluminum foil,'crunched' into a ball & dipped in water to remove corrosion, followed by polishing with an automotive type chrome/metal polish.

My Bosch Classixx dishwasher is using all the salt in one wash. Why and how do I resolve?

In order to rinse dishes and glasses satisfactorily, the dishwasher requires soft water, i.e. containing little or no lime, otherwise water stains will be left behind on crockery and glasses, etc. If the tap water exceeds a certain level of hardness, it must be softened, i.e. decalcified, so that it can be used in the dishwasher. his is achieved by adding a special salt to the water softener inside the dishwasher. The water softener, that is the required amount of salt, is set up according to how hard the tap water is.

Setting up the water softener

Determine the level of hardness of your tap water. Your local water company or service agent can help you with this. Identify setting from the following water hardness table.

Press and hold the B programme button, and set the main switch to ON, before releasing the programme button again.

The indicator lamp for the B button flashes, as does the figure in the numerical display. The latter represents the value that was preset in the factory.

To change the setting:

Press the B programme button.

Every time the button is pressed, the figure increases by one. After reaching 7 the display starts at 0 again.

Set the main switch OFF. The new setting is stored in the appliance’s memory.

Approx. 4 litres of water are required for regenerating the water softening system. The overall water consumption per load can therefore be increased by between 0 and a maximum of 4 litres according to the water hardness setting.

What are the running times for a manual regeneration of a water softner? back wash, conditioning, etc.

This will depend on the make and model of the softener and the estimate of the hardness of the water in your area. The backwash, rinse, soak and fast rinse times can usually be adjusted. Consult the book or call a local company that sells or services water softeners.
