Question about Logitech QuickCam for Notebooks Pro Personal Web Camera
I have a logitech quickcam for notebooks P/N 860-000010
it used to be working fine. recently my computer recovered from a virus. now whenever i plug in my quick cam, my screen turns blue and there is a long message saying windows has to shut down due to a serious error. when i uninstalled the logitech program, this did not happen. when i reinstalled it and plugged in my webcam, same error screen appeared.
i cannot use my cam anymore ! what can i do to fix this?
I think this a problem with a USB driver. I had a similar problem once with a USB mouse and keyboard, when running XP. I never isolated the reasons for it happening, but I uninstalled the USB drivers for both and reinstalled them and rebooted and the problem disappeared.
Maybe try uninstalling the Logitech driver and then doing a Registry Clean (and a Clean System) with nCleaner and then downloading the latest zipfile for your webcam model from the Logitech support webpage.
Then plug the webcam in. It will detect and try to look for drivers but not be able to find any.
Now unzip the driver to a folder. Go to Control panel > System > Device Manager, and look for the Unknown Device with a yellow exclamation mark next to it. Double click it to open the driver window and then click the Driver tab. Press Install Driver and choose the 'Browse Computer for Driver' type option and navigate to the folder you unzipped the driver to, select it and open it.
It will Install and then you should reboot.
The problem should be solved, unless some IRQ conflict still happens, in which case you should do a Scan for Errors with an operating system disk.
SO, to sum up, when in doubt, uninstall the driver, clean the registry, reinstall the latest driver, reboot!
Hope that helps
