the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

Ifthere is a pasword on the drive box I dunno. If you mean that you have lost your windows logon pasword for the drive in the cassy then yes , you should be able to format and start again.
If the caddy is password locked you canalways remove the drive and install it a a secondary drive in the mac case

Password reset

if you dont know the password for the laptop well follow these steps.

  1. Power on or restart your Mac.
  2. At the chime (or grey screen if your chime is turned off), hold down Command+S on your keyboard to enter single-user mode.
  3. This step is optional, but it's a good idea because it checks the consistency of the hard disk before moving on. At the prompt, type fsck -fy and press Enter/Return. Wait for the checks to complete before going to the next step.
  4. Type mount -uw / and press Enter.
  5. Type launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.DirectoryServices.plist and press Enter.
  6. Type ls /Users and press Enter. This lists all of the usernames on the computer - helpful if you don't know or remember what these are.
  7. Type dscl . -passwd /Users/username password and replace "username" with one of the users displayed in the previous step. Replace "password" with a new password of your choice. Press Enter.
  8. Type reboot and press Enter.

I purchased a power pc power mac g5 computer from ebay works fine it runs osx leapord 1.5 i cant install anything because a aminstrative password is required i dont know it they didnt send it and i have no...

I know it's a bit late to say - but when you buy from ebay always make sure you get the installations disks that came with the Mac.
You'll have to buy yourself an installation disk (if you are in the UK you can get them cheeper than from Apple at CEX.co.uk) they are standard OS installation disks (Ie. they don't include the iLife set but they do incude Safari & Mail and the other basic bits and bobs). You can get the Snow Leopard disk very cheaply from them or from Amazon.
It's much easier with the disk than the other way without.

Can't log-in in mac os x

I'm assuming that you have forgotten your password, if so, here is what you need to do.
1. With the unit turned off, press the power button to power-on the mac, but also hold down the "CMD" and "C" keys on the keyboard at the same time. This will tell the Mac that you want to boot into SINGLE USER MODE.
2. Mac OS will now boot into a unix command line shell. From here you only need to remember your username and then type in the following command-line statements.
sh /etc/rc passwd USERNAME reboot
In this instance, USERNAME is the username that you normally login as. The "passwd" command will prompt you to enter a new password for the user called USERNAME.
WARNING: Changing your password this way will wipe out any and all keychain passwords associated with your user account. This is a pain, but better than not logging into the box.
