Not a repair man.. where would I look for this?

  • robm1391 Jan 11, 2009

Would anyone have a best guess on getting it repaired? Is it worth it as it is pretty old.. but was working great so that is why I am asking about fixing it.

Worth to repair would be puelry your decision and you can decide it by asking an repair estimate to TV Tech. If estimated cost of repair is greater, then new TV is better choice.

Tv driver motherboard is not an answer that does make sense, "resoldering the vertical output IC this is acommon problem with this model" makes sense, but was a guess.

Try first unplugging your Mitsu from power for some times, this may not fix the problem, but must be done.

Try switching input channel on the remote , and see if picture comes up from DVD or external receiver.

Check if PIP is activated, there is a fault related with PiP that returns sound but no picture.

You can also try wacking gently the TV, if the picture comes back , then it is ab broken contact inside the TV, easy fix for a technician. Be careful not to damage the TV while you do the whack test.

If it is none of the above then it is an internal fault.

If you are a tv repairer, look for broken solder joints, and start testing the output transistor, and the resistor between the base and emitter of the trans on the orizzontal output circuits.

If you haven't fixed tvs before use the phone number listed on the owners manual to call support.

The base cost for a tech is $80 base plus part, I think the average cost is $120/$200, if there are no expensive parts involved.

If the TV is not too old you can buy a warranty extension that will cover the whole job cost.

Mitsubishi Model Ts 4553 picture dull and dark will cleaning the inside help or do you think I need a bulb replacement

You will want to clean lens and mirror when you replace the bulb so why not try it first. Avoid glass cleaner with amonnia as it will ruin mirror.

I changed my bulb to weeks ago and now it wont fire have sound and no picture i have a wd 73c-10

Did you use a generic bulb or a "Neolux" lamp--Mits does NOT like those. Use a Phillips bulb or an original NON neoloux one.

Repair of a Mitsubishi TS-4553 46" rear projection television

I checked out past posts on your forum and found the answer there. The TV is working great. I did have a bit of trouble finding the cc in the menu, but finally found it and the problem was solved by turning the cc off. Now I just have to make sure that they don't turn it back on!

Thank you!!!!!
