SOURCE: 1/3 hp drill press motor runs hot and very slow.

Look instead at the motor and drill post bearings. Remove the belt to see if the motor runs correctly with no load. If it still hums and gets hot, check that the motor itself turns freely (when off). If the motor seems to be ok, turn the driven pulley by hand--it should also turn freely. The capacitor is usually a starting assist, not running. To test, wrap a small rope several turns (when pulled must turn in the normal direction) around the small motor pulley and pull smartly while turning the motor on. If it now comes up to speed, the capacitor has lost capacitance. Electronic parts suppliers like Jameco or Mouser have such items.

Go to the Dewalt service website at http://servicenet.dewalt.com, put the model number in the parts search box and you'll be able to view or download the parts breakdown and owner's manual. By the manual that model does have three modes; a hammer only, drill only and hammer/drill.

Motor operates but drill has no power forward, only reverse.

you have a problem with the switch or the reversing lever. If you go to take it apart use caution that you do not disassemble the gear mechanism, you can find a breakdown and buy parts from them direct or they also have a locator at makitausa.com. I would look at the breakdown before trying to disassemble.

I need a fine threaded screw that goes into the bottom of the drive that holds the drill bit chuch in place on my radial drill press model # 149.21334. I don't have a manual or a part number. Thanks.

this chuck doesn't have a chuck retaining screw, it is a taper fit. Go to Managemyhome.com and type in your model number adding a zero after the last 4 and you can download a breakdown/manual for this unit and it shows how to reinstall the drill chuck. Let me know if you need more assistance and if I have helped you would you please rate this response accordingly and thank you.
