Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

We just purchased and installed the ProCom 23,000 BTu vent-free stove and hooked up to NG. Stove works great but we keep smelling gas. all connections have been checked and rechecked and there are no leaks. We thinks it might be in the burner unit got any ideas!

We read that operating the stove above an elevation of 4500 fee could cause pilot light outage we live at 5000 fett elevation. Of course they don't tell you about the elevation when you buy the heater. My husband called ProCom to ask about a solution to the (gas odor) gas/air mixture ratio due to the elevation and they said "open a window" Surely they have run into this problem before. We are guessing that the reason we are getting gas fumes is due to our thinner air. Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem. All suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Differant elevation means you have a differant orffice for it to work opening a window will not help, Go back to where you got it and ask them for a orffice or get a gas fitter to change the orrfice , he should have a chart in his code book , he should have blank orfffices and can drill it out to the right size , then this should work .

Found the manual on line and copied directly from it:

This should answer your question.
See if you can run the gas line or find someone to do it cheaper for you.

The QL300 has a range of 20,000 to 30,000 btus. That shouldn't be too big for your 300 square foot room with high ceilings and a loft. It has a thermostat, so it will shut off when the room gets warm. 1 pound of propane contains about 21,000 btus, so you will be burning 1 to 1.5 pounds each hour that the stove is running.
