Does the handle position have anything to do with the robot working

When the cleaner reaches the water surface the direction it travels to scrub waterline is dictated by the direction of the handle. The handle should be at a diagnal to the cleaner. You should reverse the direction of the diagnal frequently to prevent the cord from tangling and kinking. Cord should also not be coiled up tightly during storage.

My dolphin pool cleaner is floating

try machine washing the filter bag, sometimes air can get trapped inside the filter bag due to micro debris clogging it up. If necessary remove a float off of the handle as well

The cord keeps tangling. How can I keep this from tangling? I've tried stretching it, etc. but nothing works

The float/handle has a reversable position. You must periodically flip, change it so as to avoid this problem. I would reverse it each time I used it.

Dolphin starts to climb walls and then tips over.

There are several things that could cause this problem with these automatic pool cleaners. Try the solutions below.
1. Your pool cleaner might be too heavy. To correct, empty and wash the filter bag and add floats if necessary.
2. There may be too much algae growth on the walls that is preventing traction. Brush the walls prior to vacuuming if you have excessive algae growth.
3. The water temperature could be too low. Make sure pool water temp is at least 65 degrees.
4. Make sure there is not water inside the handle.
5. Make sure the brushes are not worn. You might have to have them replaced if they are worn.
6. Pool cleaner might be too light. Remove handle floats and attach 8 oz. weight to bottom inlet cover if necessary.
7. Debris could be caught in impeller.

Thank you for posting your question here on

Remove the handle screws and pull off the handle, then remove all twelve screws inside the case (6 per side) to remove the side plates. Once these are out of the way, remove the old tracks and install the new ones. Reassemble in reverse and you are done.

My dolphin begins to work, then stops. What could

There are several problems that could make these automatic pool cleaners fail to climb the walls. The cleaner could be too heavy. Empty and wash the filter bag and add floats if necessary. Make sure there is no water in the handle and that the brushes arent worn. If the cleaner is too light, add weights. If there are excessive amounts of algae on the wall, you will need to brush the walls first. The algae can prevent the cleaner from climbing. Make sure that the temp is at least 65 degrees in the pool. Make sure there is nothing caught in the impeller.

Dolphin Interactive pool cleaner stops running

If the dolphin is falling backward when it meets the water line, there is an easy fix. The automatic pool cleaners often have this problem. The easiest solution is to remove the handle floats and attach an 8 oz weight to the bottom inlet cover.

My dolphin pro robot does not sink

Assuming you have tried to turn it upside down under water to get all the air out there are only a few other things you could try...

1) Remove the handle floats that are clipped onto the handle itself.

2) Inspect the bag. Is it 'greyed out' and dingy looking? As it accumulates debris inside the fabric it becomes harder and harder for water to pass through and eventually it can become so clogged that air cannot evacuate thru it. If that is the case, replace the filter bag.
