Question about Office Equipment & Supplies
PROBLEM SOLVED! YIPPEEE READ CAREFULLY
Small star shaped screwdriver
Flat Head screwdriver
Patience (not the kind a Dr has-the kind we learn from delayed gratification)
Clean Soft Cloth
I have an HP 2710 All In One and here is what I did. First I wasted 2 hours with online and phone support. They do not know how to do this so don't bother them with it.
1.) When you lift the cover lid you will see 2 clips holding it onto the printer base. Gently lift he cover near one clip at a time or both if you are really carefull not to break them. They come out easily no force needed.
1A.) Remove the star shaped screw from the top left corner of the glass. You can buy a tool kit online that is gray and has about 20 pieces for working on electronics which cost from $10 to $20 that will have the star shaped screwdriver you will need (its the smallest one in the set.)
2.) Now look at the keypad you will see a black plastic cover with some of the following words on it: On Setup Scan at the top of the little cover and HP Photosmart 2710 all-in-one printer fax scanner copier near the bottom of the cover. Now being very cautious this panel can be pried up by using a fingernail or really thin (really thin small flat head screw driver or fingernail file- you get the point) to pry this up. It is easy so don't force it.
3.) Once the little black cover is removed, LOCATE the big long Black and Color Start buttons near the bottom of the buttons panel. You will now see a square just below these two buttons with two slits beside it.
4.) WARNINGS: THIS IS EASY BUT YOU MUST REMEMBER TO ACT AS THOUGH YOU ARE WORKING ON SOMETHING DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF YOU USE TOO MUCH FORCE YOU WILL BREAK THE PANELS AND POSSIBLY THE CONNECTIONS UNDERNEATH THEM.
5.) Using a screwdriver that will fit inside the square hole, push the screwdriver down into the square and it will release a latch or you may have to hold it down. Gently pushing from the back edge of this panel slide it forward about one inch (the area above the Display *DO NOT PRESS ON THE DISPLAY PANEL - GO BEHIND IT ABOUT 2 INCHES AND PUSH FORWARD ON THE SILVER PLASTIC COVER AREA) This should allow the panel to slide forward a little bit and then it can be lifted.
6.) Gently slide off the 3 connecting cables (DO NOT TOUCH THE SILVER CONNECTORS ON THE END AND DO NOT BEND THE CABLES.) The one with the red and black cable needs to be removed gently so as not to damage the connection to which it attaches on the boards. Lay the panel with the buttons facing downward so as not to dirty or destroy the motherboards and connectors on a clean surface.
7.) Now look for the two star shaped screws and remove them.
8.) Now RAISE The top lid as if you were going to install a new ink cartridge. You will need a flat screwdriver for this step. Look at the front panel where it says Wireless and the blue light normally is. Below that on the bottom side of that panel you will see a rectangular slot where you will need to pry the cover out just a little ways then you will want to slide it up towards the ceiling. It is actually slid into a slot on the dark black panel. It may help to have 2 people do this since one may need to hold the screwdriver to keep it pried up while the other slides.
Once the Silver cover that says Wireless on it is removed you will now see a couple of Star shaped screws that also need to be removed. ALL SCREWS ARE THE SAME SIZE SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT MIXING THEM UP.
