Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

Hi, I have a HP Photomsart 2710 All In One and when I scan pictures and bring them up in Kodak to edit them, they all come out with these yellow lines through them. I already checked the glass and it's clean. It seems to be inside of the scanner where it's coming from. Do I have to take it in to be cleaned or, am I able to disassemble myself and see what the problem may be? I appreciate your help and feedback. Thanks.

PROBLEM SOLVED! YIPPEEE READ CAREFULLY

Tools Needed:
Small star shaped screwdriver

Flat Head screwdriver
Alcohol
Patience (not the kind a Dr has-the kind we learn from delayed gratification)
Clean Soft Cloth

I have an HP 2710 All In One and here is what I did. First I wasted 2 hours with online and phone support. They do not know how to do this so don't bother them with it.

1.) When you lift the cover lid you will see 2 clips holding it onto the printer base. Gently lift he cover near one clip at a time or both if you are really carefull not to break them. They come out easily no force needed.

1A.) Remove the star shaped screw from the top left corner of the glass. You can buy a tool kit online that is gray and has about 20 pieces for working on electronics which cost from $10 to $20 that will have the star shaped screwdriver you will need (its the smallest one in the set.)

2.) Now look at the keypad you will see a black plastic cover with some of the following words on it: On Setup Scan at the top of the little cover and HP Photosmart 2710 all-in-one printer fax scanner copier near the bottom of the cover. Now being very cautious this panel can be pried up by using a fingernail or really thin (really thin small flat head screw driver or fingernail file- you get the point) to pry this up. It is easy so don't force it.

3.) Once the little black cover is removed, LOCATE the big long Black and Color Start buttons near the bottom of the buttons panel. You will now see a square just below these two buttons with two slits beside it.

4.) WARNINGS: THIS IS EASY BUT YOU MUST REMEMBER TO ACT AS THOUGH YOU ARE WORKING ON SOMETHING DANGEROUS BECAUSE IF YOU USE TOO MUCH FORCE YOU WILL BREAK THE PANELS AND POSSIBLY THE CONNECTIONS UNDERNEATH THEM.

5.) Using a screwdriver that will fit inside the square hole, push the screwdriver down into the square and it will release a latch or you may have to hold it down. Gently pushing from the back edge of this panel slide it forward about one inch (the area above the Display *DO NOT PRESS ON THE DISPLAY PANEL - GO BEHIND IT ABOUT 2 INCHES AND PUSH FORWARD ON THE SILVER PLASTIC COVER AREA) This should allow the panel to slide forward a little bit and then it can be lifted.

6.) Gently slide off the 3 connecting cables (DO NOT TOUCH THE SILVER CONNECTORS ON THE END AND DO NOT BEND THE CABLES.) The one with the red and black cable needs to be removed gently so as not to damage the connection to which it attaches on the boards. Lay the panel with the buttons facing downward so as not to dirty or destroy the motherboards and connectors on a clean surface.

7.) Now look for the two star shaped screws and remove them.

8.) Now RAISE The top lid as if you were going to install a new ink cartridge. You will need a flat screwdriver for this step. Look at the front panel where it says Wireless and the blue light normally is. Below that on the bottom side of that panel you will see a rectangular slot where you will need to pry the cover out just a little ways then you will want to slide it up towards the ceiling. It is actually slid into a slot on the dark black panel. It may help to have 2 people do this since one may need to hold the screwdriver to keep it pried up while the other slides.

Once the Silver cover that says Wireless on it is removed you will now see a couple of Star shaped screws that also need to be removed. ALL SCREWS ARE THE SAME SIZE SO DON'T WORRY ABOUT MIXING THEM UP.

    CONTINUATION OF ABOVE:

9.) At the back of the scanner glass near the area where you removed the lid you will see two 1 inch long clips you can gently pull up on the clips and then you can remove the panel which has the glass attached. Clean the glass using the Alcohol and a clean soft cloth or EYE GLASS CLEANER works well. You can't clean it enough. I cleaned it 5 times before reinstalling it. Check it in the light for streaks etc and make sure it is clean enough to last you a while before tackling this again.

Reinstalling all parts simply follow these steps backwards then plug back into the power supply and happy scanning, printing, faxing and copying. DISCLAIMER> Not responsible for human mistakes or errors. This is exactly what I did tonight to fix mine and it worked great. Have about 1 hour of free time to do this. GOOD LUCK

I want to scan a photo to my computer with " Hp deskjet F4240 all -in-one"??

Open the lid on the HP scanner to reveal the scanning surface. Tthe scanning surface is the glass surface on which documents are placed for scanning.
  • Step 2 Put the picture face down on the scanning surface, using the positioning mark to set the picture. The positioning mark is normally an arrow and it indicates the correct placement of a document on the scanning surface for a good scan.
  • Step 3 Close the lid on the HP scanner.
  • Step 4 Press the "Scan To" button on the HP scanner and choose a format for the scan. "Scan to File" or "Scan to Email" are a couple of the choices. Press "OK" and your scan will begin. On your computer screen, a progress bar will let you know how your scan is going. Once the scan is complete, the folder where the file was scanned will appear on screen and you can click on it to ensure the quality of the scan.

a Free photo editor.Right click your scanned image and in the pop up is "edit with Gimp"? I use this all the time to pick a "Window" out of a photo and enlarge or shrink it.Works for me!

You need some OCR (optical character recognition) software. If none came with your scanner (which it should), or the one that came is worthless (which sometimes is the case) then you have no other option than to purchase one.
From my experience, the best and most accurate is ABBYY Fine Reader.

Hp scanjet2300c scans have a yellow tint and black patches.

The best way to check if the scanner is okay or not is by installing on another computer. First try B&W, then try color. IF it works may be your OS or driver (of the old comp) is corrupted.
