Hard to say from my desk. If you reloaded Windows , you didn't mention which version, all you need to do is Windows and Samsung updates. What Factory settings have you lost? You can put the DVD or CD in the laptop and reboot from disk and see what is on it and abort/cancel or try repair my computer.

SOURCE: I have a Toshiba Satellite M115. I'm trying to do a sys. restore

Hi Imotivate!

By far the easiest, and most probably the best option for the long run is to ask Toshiba for a replacement recovery cd. It will most likely cost you, but it's worth a shot. Finding an authorised Toshiba dealer can be found by using their helpful website tool found here : http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true.

Hopefully this will point you in the right direction to get a replacement sent out to you!

I lost my recovery disk or restore disk for my sony vaio VGN-FE660G. If anyone could direct me in the right direction to get them.

There are no System Recovery CDs included with the computer. The recovery data required to return the computer to the original, factory-installed condition is included on a special partition of the hard drive. Follow this procedure to create the Recovery Media Kit (a set of Recovery Discs), which can be used to restore the recovery partition and return the computer to the original, factory-installed condition.
  1. Ensure all open programs are closed.
  2. Ensure all network connections are disconnected.
  3. Ensure all peripheral devices are disconnected.
  4. From within the VAIO Recovery Wizard application, in the Create Recovery Discs window, click Next.
  5. Under Create Recovery Discs (Step 1 of 3), click to select the option to use either DVD or CD media.
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. At the Insert a blank... dialog box, insert the appropriate disc.
  8. Click the OK button.
  9. Insert a new disc when necessary as instructed.
  10. When all the disks have been created, click the Finish button.

How can i restore my samsung NP-R60Y to factory setting without the reboot disc?

Hi,

Well, you can order Recovery Disc from Samsung which can be used to restore the laptop to factory settings.

If you wanted, you can install an operating system on your own. You need to either buy a copy of Windows or download it. If you download a copy of Windows you need to burn it to a CD or USB. Then boot the laptop up into the USB or CD and it will install Windows. It will reset the computer to new but not exactly like it was when you purchased it. Why? Well, Samsung and other companies preload a lot of junk software into the laptops with the operating system. This is how the make extra money. That is one reason why I don't really use the factory recovery disk.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,
G33k

I have a e-system laptop i brought it off my farthing law but there was no recovery disc so could i set it back to factory settings

Depending on the particular model and version of Windows there are several options to reset to the factory settings.
Many laptops come with software to make recovery discs. Generally if you search for something like "Recovery media creation" in the start menu (sometimes is in a folder named after the manufacturer), it will let you create discs to reset to default.
Some modern (generally late Vista, or Windows 7 era computers) have a recovery partition. Booting to it will vary by brand and model. Some list it under boot options even. If you have problems finding it and think it has one, please comment with your model number and I'll try to look up specific instructions.
Two last options are to either order recovery media from the manufacturer or install a clean copy of Windows (this isn't recommended as finding drivers can be an issue).
Please leave feedback if this was helpful. Thanks.

I wanna know how to reset my laptop back to factory settings Gateway windows 7 model# NEW90 NV59C

usually if you dont get a recovery disc with your laptop you would then use those discs to reload the system from scratch. the other is that you would have to create recovery discs as soon as you started using the laptop. if the sales person did not make you aware of it then he is a very bad sales person. the other solution would be to go to the web-site of the manufacturer of the laptop and under the support section or drivers and downloads you will find drivers and recovery disc image or iso or a self extracting file which you will then have to copy to disc then use the created disc to reload the system

One step recovery not working windows wont load.anything i can do

Hi maybethray,

Using the One Key Recovery will help you resolve the problem, windows not loading, on your machine. There might be something that you have missed out on the process. You may consider to try using the One Key Recovery once again and follow the steps below:

Reminder: Please be advise that OKR will put back your machine to it's factory settings, will reload the operating system and all the drivers for your laptop. Create a back up copy of your important files to avoid data lost. Also, make sure that the AC Adapter is plugged in during the whole process.

Here's How:
  • Turn off your computer.
  • Press the One Key Recovery button. It's an orange button near the power. Your system will automatically turn on and it will say Windows Loading Files.
  • Wait until you are directed on Lenovo One Key Rescue System page.
  • Select One Key Recovery.
  • After that, select restore from initial backup.
  • Then you will have to hit on Start.
  • Once the process is done the system will prompt you and make sure to select Reboot.
Your operating system is now reloaded to your machine. If this process will not work the other way that you can reload the OS is through the recovery disc. For this, you need to contact Lenovo so you can request for the disc to be sent out to you. Their number is 18774536686then select option number 3.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

How do i reset my laptop bk to factory setting when the partishon has been deleted containing the recovery

You may be able to buy a recovery disc, but i am not sure if this needs the partition with the recovery files, or if it is like a computer specific OEM version of windows.
You could search on torrent sites (isohunt) for a recovery disc for your make of computer ( if you are ok about using torrent sites) try here for a recovery disc

Gateway laptop reset

Gateway Direct systems went "media-less" back in September 2004. In the event of a system crash users could either 1) restore their systems from the Recovery Partition OR 2) from the backup media that they were prompted to create on first power-up -- which would provide them with up to 5 blank CD-R discs depending on their system's configuration.

On the factory load of the hard drive, the recovery partition will not contain operating system files. It only contains application and driver files.
The first time the recovery partition is used, it prompts the user to insert their System Recovery CD/DVD to copy files from the CD to the recovery partition.
The Drivers and Applications CD is not bootable and does not contain Operating System files.
The System Recovery CD/DVD is bootable but does not contain any application or driver files.
If the end-user erases the hard drive and restores the computer using the System Recovery CD/DVD and an Applications and Drivers CD, the recovery partition is not recreated.

This means that you will need the operating system restore disc FIRST then the recovery partition will work for you

I have a loptop of Acer Aspire5520.I have to formate now but i lost my system backup & restore disk. How can i get this backup.Pls let me know.

Normally , acer laptops have a hidden recovery partition on the hard drive , which contains all of the recovery data so you dont need the recovery discs.

When you boot up your computer and you get the Acer logo etc , try pressing keys to start the recovery - this puts everything back to factory default settings and erases your data.

Also , A program ships with the laptop called 'Acer Empowering Technology - eRecovery' which allows you to burn your own recovery disc - You then use this disc to perform a complete system restore.
