Question about Band Saws

Grizzly bandsaw cannot fit blade

Grizzly G0555 14'' bandsaw. Assembled and fit blade with no problem, but installed 6'' riser kit and the blade supplied is much too small. The riser measures 6''. The blade measures 105'' (correct size with riser), but even with top wheel lowered to maximum (minimum tension-- rotated spacers as far up the threaded rod as possible), the blade doesn't fit. The wheels are coplanar. With the tension arm in the ''up'' (tension released) position, I can get the blade on using considerable force. It's much, much too tight. Any solutions?

I lowered the spacer (on the threaded rod) and got enough drop in the upper wheel to fit the blade.

The blade won't stay on even though I have it on properly it comes right off when I turn it on

I have no experience of portable bandsaws but do have some experience of workshop bandsaws.

One wheel is generally movable in order to "steer" the blade and careful adjustment is needed with the blade guides retracted until the blade runs full on the wheels. The blade guides are then brought back to prevent the pressure against the work from pushing the blade off the wheels.

Check the rotor to see if it's locked (bad bearings, rust, crud inside motor, etc). Also try running it without any belt. Check the wheels for binding. If it has a gearbox (I can't tell, that's not a Grizzly bandsaw model number), check the gearbox to make sure it runs freely.

Clark 6x4 bandsaw

there should be an adjustment knob on the back that changes the angle of the top wheel and this will center the blade so it stays on. I do this by jogging the saw on and off while I adjust it. hope this helps you
