Sounds like the screw has stripped out and you need a new one. or
it could be the needle clamp that is stripped out, it would be a good
idea to have the machine checked to see which one it is.

Try some metal bobbins, #15 or SA 156. that seems to help. If, you don't have a manual go to brother.com and download one for free

it's possible that it's the needle clamp or the needle clamp screw
that may be stripped out, a repair shop can tell you for sure.

I WAS sewing and my needle hit a pin and know the top thread will not catch the bottom thread

Hi joanncastro6...
Sounds like you have a bent needle...I recommend that you replace your needle and that should solve your problem.

Can't get new bottom bobbin to catch with the top needle.

Try a new needle, sometimes there is a burr on the needle that is hard for you to see. Make sure that the flat side faces the rear of the machine and is inserted all the way up.

Brother LS 1520 I was in zig zag mode and broke a needle. Now that I have replaced the needle, the needle thread will not pick up bobbin thread.

Are you sure that you replaced your needle right? The flat side must face the rear of the machine and did you put your needle on a straight stitch? I hope it didn't mess up your timing. But try this and I have my fingers crossed for you that it is something simple.

I have only used this machine twice, but now the needle hits the plate when it comes down...what could be causing this? and how can I fix it?

You could have a bent needle. Check and see if the needle is straight. If so, you need to take the machine in to adjust the lineup. Your machine should not be hitting the needle. Make sure you have the thread from the sewing thread threaded correctly, If it is not it will not sew correctly. Your bobbin should also be threaded correctly, some bobbins go clockwise and some go counter clockwise. Sheck your manual for the correct placement. You should also change your needle everytime you start a new project. The needle is important for smoothe sewing.

Brother won't sew

My Brother machine is sensitive. You may have already done this, but...

Rethread the top, following diagrams and instructions precisely.

I have taken the front off the machine to find a nest of thread in the upper part of the machine.

Remove the bobbin and bobbin case, and reseat both.

Check the needle. If it is bent even slightly or not seated well, the whole needle shaft can lock up.

Zigzag

When using your zig zag are you readjusting the needle from 0 either to the left or right, if you dont adjust the left/right margins the needle will stay straight and wont zz even though you have one of the selectors on zz you need both readjusted should be a small dial or lever on the machine and when you move it you will see the needle move as well
