there are 2 memory cards. 1 is SDHC, that won't work. It is not backward conpatible with legacy(old) products. You need a card that is SD only. Micro card with adapter that comes with the card is fine. I had the same problem and this fixed mine.

The software is not available for free download. However, you can skip that by following method :-

Ok so all you have to do is open the battery door so it wont turn on and then hold the camera record button on the top until I say so. Plug it into your comp and then wait. it should say found mass storage device. Then you will see it under my computer. You can just drag and drp copy and paste the vids and play them with windows media player. (you can let go of the botten when windos detects it.)

Ya. Just use Windows movie maker. just add the vids and music tyo your collection and drag them onto the time line below in your order. Vuala!

Sound like your card is corrupt.

Try opening the battery door and then holding the camera button while windows detects it. You can let it go when it says found mass storage device. The camera will be under Mass Storage Device in my computer.
