SOURCE: I need to replace the seal round the door but cannot remove the old one

Take the top panel off by removing the two screws underneath the lid at the rear and look down inside towards the front door edge of the drum you will see a very large metal hose clips holds the door seal on. A screwdriver will loosen the clip then the clip will slip off and then the seal can be removed and replaced

When moving a whirlpool washing machine (Model AWM 1000) a large thin metal ring (spring-loaded at one end) came out. Where does it go to refit it and how do I refit it? On the machine there's a groove...

It goes to the outer lip of the door opening where the groove is to secure the door gasket. It definitely serve such purpose, not for nothing.

I have a Whirlpool front end loader washing machine AWM 993-600 and I can't open the door. I've just completed a wash. Is there some way of releasing it?

Hi Carolyn,
Yes, you can access the door latch by removing the lower panel. There are three screws below the panel, remove these.

When that panel is off, reach behind the front panel up towards the latch. You'll feel a "ring" at the base of it.

Grasp the ring and pull down, then (while still holding the ring) pull out on the door to open it.

Now here's the thing. Your door latch has most likely failed and will need to be replaced. Here's a link to a Duet manual. Look on page 4-3 for the latch replacement procedure. (It may look difficult, but it can be done in less than 1/2 an hour.) The part number you'll need is 8182634. If you don't have a local appliance parts retailer, just plug that number into a search engine.

If this solution was helpful, please rate it. Thanks for using FixYa!
