Need red color tube for mitsubishi WS-55859 projection tv. where can i order one?

  • Anonymous Mar 26, 2009

We have the same problem with our Mitsubishi tv. We called a local repair man and he said color tubes were going bad, either from being bounced around from moving or old age. He suggested to replace all 3 tubes at the cost of $480.00 including in-home service fee. (Northwest Ark) Denny

Mitsubishi model ws-55859 tv is red and red

If it is WS-55859 and you go into the customer menu and find red or blue are skewed and will not adjust---you have a convergence problem.

This model uses a single STK-393-110 convergence chip--it and any of the protect resistors around it that are bad will need to be replaced and the set adjusted.

The chip can be purchased on Ebay for about 12 dollars plus shipping--total parts cost should be under 30 dollars!

I HAVE START TO FINISH, STEP BY STEP INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS REPAIR IN THIS MODEL.

They tell you everything you will need and how to do the repair---If you or someone you know can do it I can post or get the instructions to you.

If you cannot do it shop around your area--most shops are going to get 300 or MORE for this kind of repair and many will not do in in your home--Any good tech can do it in your home in about 1 hour--I know as I have done hundreds of them.

If you have questions or need help let me know--I am here to help people.

My mitsubishi WS-55859 picture is not as clear as it should be and there are horizontal lines across the middle 1/3 of the screen. I also notice a green ghosting on some images and some colors. Any ideas?...

The most likely cause is shorted convergence chips and possibly a few pico fuses.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony,Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer2_bing.gif Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get a convergenece repair kit with instructions from the links below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

Problem #1) Convergence

Yours may have one or more of the following symptoms...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2
Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture
