Hit the pin out with a punch and a hammer after drilling off any part of the pin that might be impeding your progress. you might also have to put some juice into your swings because a nail is too soft

Hi im after the size, thread, and grade of the crankshaft pulley bolt on an MTD M675F mower with a briggs and stratton 14.5hp model No.287707 thanks.

Not usually the way you do it. Either you take it out and take it to a Fasteners company and say "gimme one of these", or you refer to the maker for a replacement. I recommend the latter, as you can't tell from looking at a bolt whether it is heat treated or not, unless you know what you are doing.

Spares are listed here from the maker.

Auger stops turning on my mtd snownblower 10 hp

Before you start the unit, check to see that there are no rocks or obstructions. If the belt and belt tension are both OK,Then check to see if there is a broken shear pin/bolt.

I have a MTD snowblower yard machine.how to adjust

There should be metal shoes on the side of the snowblower. They have adjustment bolts that allow the auger housing to move up and down. loosen them and adjust to how close you want it to the ground. It also depends on the model. This process only applies to large self propelled models which are a two stage snowthrower. if its a small single stage there is usually no adjustment.

How to remove stuck blade bolt on MTD Mower model 449

Jeff:

First make sure that you are loosening the blade bolt (Are you turning it in the right direction?) Turn the mower on it's side and lodge a piece of wood between the blade and the body of the machine and really crank on that wrench. The blade bolt is probably rusted in the crankshaft.

WENT TO USE MY SNOWBLOWER LAST NIGHT (4CYCLE) AND THE BLADES DID NOT WORK BUT IT DID INGAGE. cOULD IT BE FROZEN?

it is broken shear bolts ( look for a hole about 3-4 mm wide in the center of the auger. I work at a John Deere implement and there is a lot of people that don't know simply because the salesman doesn't tell them about the risk of breaking shear bolts. you will be blowing snow then all of a sudden it pushes hard. go to the dealer where you got it from, or even fleet farm and shear bolts are at the most ten bucks

I have a snow blower which will start up but it won't move forward in the snow nor will it push the snow. Not sure what is wrong. I can manually move the blade around that pushes the snow.

If you start the machine and the axles spin but the augers do not it is because the shear pins are broke. If you look closely you will see the the augers have shear bolts and nuts or shear pins. If you jam a piece of ice or a stick in the augers while they are spinning the bolts will shear so you do not damage the expensive augers or the worm drive gears. If the axle spins with the augers you may have torn up the front worm gear in the front of the auger intake. If you spin the small auger and the large auger moves but when you start and engage the auger nothing happens you will have to remove the under cover and inspect the drive belt pulleys for jammed or broken parts or more commonly broken drive belts.

I have a new Troy Bilt Snowblower. My father ran over a large extension cord while blowing snow, which in turned wrapped the cord around the auger shaft ends. I can now only get one side of the auger to...

Your snowblower has 4 shear pins keeping the front auger safe. Use the manual to locate them if you are unsure where they are and how to change them. Since your snowblower is new I am going to assume you have the manual.
Your snowblower came with 2 spare shearpins. Check up by the handles and see if they are still there. If you don''t have them go to your local Lowes, Sears, or MTD repair shop to get new ones. DO NOT USE STANDARD BOLTS!

The drive shaft coming out of the gear box is one, solid piece all the way across the snowthrower so if one side is turning there is a 95% chance it's the shear pins.

Yes there are 2 belts one for the drive and one for the auger. If you remove the cover on top that is located between the engine and the auger housing you can check the belts. The auger belt has come off the pulley or is broken. Hope this helps you out. Best regards and good luck.

My troy-bilt 8.5 horse 26 inch wide snowblower wont move anymore.

Take the belt cover off that covers the drive pulley on the engine. You should only have to loosen two bolts. Inspect the belt to see what it looks like. I am not sure if it drives a gear box or if it turns a friction wheel that drives the wheels. If the belt looks good check for shear bolts that might have sheared off and replace them.
