Format of sd card on canon ixus 60 lost pic...

Hello there,
I hope you can help!! I have accidently deleted my pictures from my sd card by formatting in error (new camera). I have downloaded a couple of recovery packages ie File restore professional etc, however it seems to only be able to retrieve the pictures that I have MANUALY deleted SINCE the format mistake. Is there any way of getting back the pictures I've lost due to formating? I have used the camera once since formating, but have read that I shouldn't so I'm hoping you can help before I do anything else. Many thanks.
