Kicker solo baric l7 12" has distortion at low volume. What could cause this?

It sounds like the cone is distorted. If it's a paper cone, it may have gotten wet. If it's a poly cone, it may have been exposed to too much heat (sunlight?).

Also check the wiring; anything loose may make a rattling sound.

Last, the problem may not be in the speaker at all - it may be a problem with the amp.

Marshall MB4410, with low volume gives no real volume,

Guitar amps have preamp sections (think unpowered audio mixer) and power amp sections (Crown rack-mount amp). An excellent way to isolate audio problems if amp is still producing audio is to check the preamp out (line out). Preamp output distorted = preamp failure. Connect MP3 player to "Power Amp In"...sound distorted = power amp failure. In your case the latter is the case as your "line out" is clean. Also test each speaker for clear sound as speaker cone damage from being overpowered is fairly common. At 300w. I'll assume the failure was not from cranking the volume to loud but a shorted speaker or speaker wiring could zap the power amp in an instant.

6 yrs old, tubes replaced by 1st owner, perfect for first 8 months, then seems volume diminished, and now distorts when i play hard, playing soft no problem but when i strum hard it distorts

Sounds very much like low emission in the output tubes. Do you know if they were replaced with brand new or used ones? Very possibly the replacements, if they were brand new, are Chinese sourced, and sadly their quality is very low and the lifetime short. Russian Sovtek tubes are much better quality and worth paying more for. It's also important to replace output tubes in pairs, and matched pairs if possible. If the tubes age at different rates, the result is signal distortion, getting progressively worse as the valves age further, although seldom bad enough to be really objectionable - unless one of the tubes has pretty much died altogether while the other one is still performing reasonably well - in that case the symptom is pretty much exactly what you are describing.... :o)

Well it sounds like you need a mono block amplifier for the subwoofers. Subwoofers are ment for low frequency. If you try to run regular audio through the subwoofer the sound will become distorted at a high volume. If you have a crossover on the amplifier try putting it on LP. Also do not exceed the RMX rateing on the subwoofer because if you do they will also distort. If you try adding the mono block on to it and it is still doing it you may also be running to much power to the subwoofers.

My ltd deluxe ec-1000(vintage black) is not producing any distortion on my Marshall mg100hdfx. this is the first time i have had an active pickup guitar, i put a new 9v battery in it but still no change in...

Distortion is not produced in the guitar. Distortion is generated in the amp by circuitry that increses the gain until the waveforms "flat top". This creates higher harmonics and a buzzy sound. If you are getting a very low output from your guitar it is possible that you don't have enough output to get the distortion in the amp to work. Other settings in the guitar add harmonics by mixing more than one pickup. This is not ditortion but adding these harmonics changes the sound immensly.
LOOK AT THIS SITE AND FIND A SCHEMATIC THAT MATCHES THE RESOURCES OF YOUR GUITAR... You might be able to figure where the wire goes... It may be a ground.

I have a JVC CH-X1100 CD changer in my truck. The sound is only coming out clearly on the driver side speakers....the passenger side speakers sound very low and distorted.

It is only a loose or broken wire to the left speakers. Try at the speaker itself first, and then at the radio. If both of these connections are tight, then check back along the wiring and check that the wiring TO THE RADIO LEFT SPEAKER is OK. If OK, you may have a break in the wire from the radio to the speaker.. It could even be an internal break that is hard to see. The easiest way would be to replace that wire.

I bought the speaker lapdesk N700 and it worked only for 30 days or so now the sound is all distorted. How do I go about repairing, or replacing it or getting my money back?????

how distorted is it and when did it started to sound wrong was it while u were using the speakers or was it after u just booted up your system first time of the day?

did u check your wires if everything was all secured in place?
also if u have pets and they love to take a bite on your wires ive seen this before they could do that.

if its distorted is could also mean they are busted as in someone turned the music too loud for the
capabilities of the speakers and that would make the sound distorted,

those are my theories ...but since im not there to physically check its hard to be certain on those things

good luck

MY amp is going into clip mode. what is clip mode on an infinity car audio amp?

either your pushing your subs to hard and its creating a backsurge of resistance, or the spider wires are touching the frame causing them to foul out. It honestly sounds like you are trying to run too low of an impedance subwoofer, and your amp infinitys clip to keep from distorting, distortion played through a subwoofer at high volumes is damaging to the subwoofer and the amplifier. reduce your gain, and check your wires, the clipping should stop, a good rule of thumb always have an amplifer that will do rms what your speakers can do peak, so that way you can keep the amp turned up only 1/4 of the way and be pushing your subs at a decent rms volume with 0 distortion.

12w3v2 Started making distorted bass noise at low volume

Connect each speaker coil one at a time to a square 9 volt battery and watch for the cone to move.

Also try hooking another speaker to your amp just to make sure the noise isn't in the amp.

You can use a 9 volt battery to test wire polarity also. Hook up the + wire of the speaker to the + terminal of the battery and the - speaker to the - battery terminal. If the speaker moved UP or OUT then the wiring is correct. If it moved IN or DOWN then the + and - wires are backwards on the speaker.

Also if you have two or more speakers hooked together test all the same way while they are hooked to each other. ALL of the speakers need to move in the same direction at the same time.

Clipping causes more speaker damage than anything. "Dirty Power" can happen in good quality amps too. The gain control is to match the voltage between the headunit and the amp. It is NOT a volume or boost knob. If you overdrive the first stage of the amp and then clip it damage will occur to the amp and speakers at some point.

Hope this helps.
