SOURCE: hi my lenovo laptop Y460

Side by Side architecture uses a trick in a file called a 'manifest' to call a special system file instead of the regular Vista system file (a .dll). The error is saying that finding that special dll written for that application is not working somehow. (side-by-side configuration is incorrect)

If you recently installed new software, like AVG Virus protection, remove it. If not, try to do a system restore (found in Start - Programs - Accessories - System Tools) back to a time when you know the system was working properly. This will not affect your data, but may uninstall software or updates installed after the restore date you choose.

If this does not work, you need to be prepared for the long version of this fix as it is very technical and very long. Let me know if you need more help solving this problem

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

If you're using a Lenovo laptop, you may inadvertently switch off the camera. Try to switch on (or off) the webcam by pressing the Fn key and the Esc key and then release both at the same time. An icon will appear indicating whether the camera is turned on of off.

Hope this helps!

I have a lenovo g460e.... yhe first time i use the loptop the built in camera was working..... but after 1 week i connot uuse my cam untill nw i hofe i can fine a solution of my problem of my lenovo. tenk...

Hi,

Please try to use the camera using different applications like yahoo messenger, skype or Lenovo Youcam. If non of them works with the camera follow the instructions below.

Please try Fn+Esc. This function allows you to enable or disable the built-in camera for Lenovo Laptops. There should be a small camera symbol that would appear on the lower right corner of the screen. If the camera symbol has " \ " on it, it means the camera is disable but if not it means its enable.

Check if the camera is seen on the device manager and check it properties. Make sure the camera's status is "Device is working properly". If not download the driver from the link below.

Where can i find the camera of my lenovo G460 model laptop i can't find it and dnt know how to use it

Hi eloisabangco,

I would like to help you in using your webcam on your Lenovo G450. Let me first start in giving you important information. Webcams can be used if these 2 are present, the Camera Driver and the Camera Software. Both are pre-installed to your Lenovo laptop. Please follow the steps below that will help you use your webcam:

1. Start with the basic. Make sure that your webcam is turned on. To do that, press Fn+Esc. On the lower right side of your monitor a camera icon will appear:
  • Camera with a slash - means it's off.
  • Camera without the slash - means it's on. ( So make sure it's on)
2. After making sure that your camera is on, now look for the Camera Software. With this certain type of model it usually goes with a software called Easy Capture. If non it could be Cyberlink YouCam.
  • You can see this software on your desktop.
  • Or, when you go to Start > All Programs > Lenovo folder > Easy Capture or You Cam.
To launch it just double click on the icon, you can now enjoy using your webcam.

Link below will help you locate where you can download the driver and software for your webcam in case that you have none:

Hope this help you.

Thank you for using Fixya.

I have a lenovo b 460. but i am unable to start the webcam.pls help!

Hi prakashsuren,

There are three things that you need to check on if you're unable to start the webcam of your Lenovo B460. You have to check if the webcam is on. Another thing is, determine if you have the software for your camera installed. And the third is, make sure that you have driver for your camera. Kindly follow the steps below to help you address the issue:

1. To turn on your camera, press Fn+Esc. An icon will appear that will help you determine if it's on/off. If you do Fn+Esc and an icon of a camera with a leaning line at middle appeared it means that camera was turned off. You need to do Fn+Esc again and you'll see an icon of a camera.

2. This model do have a pre installed camera software called Cyberlink YouCam. Here's where you can see the software:
  • YouCam icon on your desktop.
  • Or you can check the Lenovo folder when you go to ALL PROGRAMS. You should see folder for YouCam.
Just click or double click on the software to launch it.

3. This is the last thing that you can check, driver for your camera. To check if there's installed driver follow the steps below:

  • Go to Control Panel.
  • Look for Device Manager.
  • Inside look for Imaging Devices, then there should be Lenovo EasyCamera.

All these steps should help you open/launch your webcam. I f you have missing camera driver or software you may download using this link. Just select your operating system.

Hope this helps.

Thank you for using Fixya.

How to get my webcam works

  1. Press the QuickPlayc00865937.jpg button (normally located near the display) on the notebook PC to open the QuickPlay application. NOTE: If this takes you to DVDPlay instead of QuickPlay, then you are probably not using an HP Pavilion notebook and you do not have QuickPlay installed. You should skip this test and go to Test the webcam using YouCam instead. Alternately, click Startc00814574.gif , type QuickPlay in the search field, and select QuickPlay when it becomes available to open the QuickPlay application.
  2. Click c00865938.jpg icon, and double-click HP webcam in the Source column. The input from the webcam displays on the screen.
  3. Click Record in the QuickPlay window to record a short webcam file, and then press Stop .
    • By default, the file is saved in a public folder, and the date is used as the name of the video file. For example: C:\Users\Public\Videos\HP Webcam\webcam_20070228_1540.mpg .
    • The saved file can be renamed and moved for use by QuickPlay or other media programs.
  4. Double-click the name of the file in the playlist in the QuickPlay window to view the short Webcam file.
  5. If you can view this file, this concludes this test. You should now test with YouCam.
If you have a third-part webcam, see HP Notebook PCs - Testing a Webcam in Vista with QuickPlay for additional information. Test the webcam using YouCam To verify that the webcam on an HP or Compaq computer that shipped with Microsoft Vista with Service Pack 1 installed is operating properly, perform the following YouCam test. This test verifies that the Webcam is working and can record or play video files.
  1. Click Startc00814574.gif , type you in the search field, and select Cyberlink YouCam from the resulting list. After a few seconds the program starts and the webcam image should be visible in the main viewing window.
  2. Click c01475672.jpg in the main control bar to record a short webcam file, and then press Stop .
    • By default, the file is saved in the Documents folder, in a subfolder named YouCam, with a generic name based on the date. For example: Capture_20080327.wmv
    • To navigate to this folder, click Startc00814574.gif , Computer , and then select Documents under Favorites, and then open the YouCam folder.
    • The saved file can be renamed and moved for use by YouCam or other media programs.
  3. Double-click the name of the file in the playlist in the YouCam window to view the short webcam file.
  4. This test verifies that the webcam is working and can record or play video files.

I hope this helps you, I don't have the same operating system. You can find all the information you are looking for at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01560721&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=3795310&lang=en#N565

Hp Webcam

If your Notebook is installed with Vista, there is no option to start the Webcam directly without using any application.
However, you can try using the HP Webcam drivers which are for XP with which you will get a Preview window to use the webcam without using any application like Messengers etc..:
Download the above mentioned driver from the link below :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp35001-35500/sp35414.exe

Save the file in the Notebook and double click once the file is saved to install the drivers.
However, if you are unable to access the webcam using Quickplay application, I recommend you to try reinstalling the application by following the instructions below if the Recovery Partition is available and you are able to use the Recovery Manager application :
Click on Start and then on Control Panel in the window that appears, click on Classic View in the left pane.
Now, among the icons that are displayed, double click on Programs and Features icon and among the list that is displayed, click on HP Quickplay and click on Uninstall button on the top.
Now, follow the instructions available in the link below to reinstall Quickplay using Recovery Manager :
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&docname=c00834921&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

You can also try downloading Cyberlink YouCam application which is provided for all latest Notebooks to access Webcam from the link below :
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp39001-39500/sp39372.exe

Save the file into the Notebook and double click the file to install the application.
You can find the required instructions to use Cyberlink YouCam application to access the webcam of your notebook from the link below :
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01414839&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN

Additionally, you can find the details about YouCam application from the link below :
