Open Question

Since a fire in my Eurolec LPG oven, I have been unable to light my oven or grill. Both will light initially but as soon as the ignition dial is released the gas goes out. Any suggestions? Margaret

SOURCE: EUROLEC 3572 9506 LPG GAS OVEN

OK sista62, here is your solution. The problem is that the thermocouple that controls the valve supplying gas to the ovenjet is not working. A new thermocouple is available from http://blgas.com.au/online/category4_1.htm and will cost about AUD$40.00.

The control valve is located right behind the knob on the frontpanel (the centre one that controls both the oven and the grill.) You will see two small copper tubes going into the control valve. These are the thermocouple tubes, one comes from the griller and the other from the ovenjet. All the other knobs only have one thermocouple for each of the topplate burners.

If you want to test before you buy, disconnect the thermocouple from from one of the topplate burners and connect it to the one for the oven control valve. Now turn on the topplate burner and keep it going by holding the knob down on the front panel for this burner. Now light the oven burner and it should stay on.

Good luck.

Looks like the support is overseas. However they do have email support. If I knew the make and model I might be able to obtain more information. Otherwise here is the email link for support:

the ignition thermocouple is not getting hot enough to open the valve for main gas.or it might be a swmi pulled pilot orrifice. if the pilot flame is hitting the thermocouple nicely then I would say replace the thermocouple .

Westinghouse oven LPG 527 wont stay alight and grill wont start

Normally the grill is completely separate to the oven. Press the ignitor before you turn on the grill, as, to ignite, oxygen needs to be present (ie: not flooded with gas) . and you should be able to see the spark from the ignitor in the grill. if you can't, then you may have problems with your ignition pack or ignition leads.

Oven & hob taking a long time to come on(on FULL pressure)

Hello mick1939. Are the ignitors the clicking/sparking type or the glow bar type?
If they are the glow bar type, when they get older they don't send enough amps to the gas safety valve thus only letting a small amount of gas to the burners. Try replacing them if they are glow bars.

Eurolec oven will ignite but not remain on

Hi,

Depending on the exact model number and features of your Eurolec oven, this could indicate a number of things:
  • no supply of gas (for gas model), or the electrical power is not reaching the heating elements;
  • the heating elements are defective;
  • the controlling system/mechanism is faulty;
  • there is an "unknown" fault internally and the system is not allowing any further action to prevent untoward incidents or aggravate the condition;
  • if it is completely electric powered, try to see if there is a reset button at the back/rear of the unit.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back on the exact model number, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Eurolec oven fire - gases released made us sick

Good morning Folk!!
A toxicity doctor rang me to say that I have been exposed to vitreous enamel and galvanised metal.
The composition has zinc, chromium, silica so when the gas came off the oven interior, I had "gas fever, short term toxic, that would be eliminated from my body with no expected problems. Apparently welders have this all the time. It causes irritability, nausia and sleepiness. Australia has very poor metal detection in blood testing. It usually has to be sent to America.
I don't trust Eurolec, nor the company who made their baked enamel ovens - Technogas Italy, who now produce for Euro appliances.
I'm getting a new stove - ILEVE - which is a better quality gas stove all round.
Bye for now
