I have a new (still in the box) Haier Bar Fridge, 3.3 cu in. Thermostat turns on, compressor is working, but not cooling after 5-6 hrs. Have tried several times. If fridge has been tipped on its side, is this the problem? Can I do something before I take it back. Need help!

It's probably just low on refridgerant.

If it has a condensor coil, that could be dirty/clogged causing over heating and the compressor will cut off on internal overload.

If not coil, then it's low on refridgerant.

    Is it worth fixing?

Well, a typical charge for installing an acces port for the guages, and recharging the unit would run you $175 to $250. If they tech has to vacume the system because it has lost ALL refridgerant and not just some, then add $75 to that.

To perform a leak check, and repair the leak, add a minimum of $125 to it.

So, it really depends on how much it would cost you to replace it. If you can replace it for $200 to $400. then I would replace it.

If it's a commercial unit and a new one would run $1,000 or more, I'd repair it.

sounds as if you have an ice buildup restricting the fan from moving airflow to the freezer. Inside the freezer take apart the lower shelf and see if this area is full of ice, if so clean it and defrost it.

There is a PTC relay on the compressor you need to replace it. Small black square looking device take the wire retainer clip off and pry off the relay. Get the wires going to relay noted and then get the model number and make of your unit. Go to a parts house for appliances and get a new one. About 25 bucks for that little dude but it is a needed for your compressor. Could get a 3 in 1 relay they are a lot cheaper and easy to install. let me know how it goes ken

Chances are, the compressor has locked up. You can try skeeter140's suggestion, but I doubt it will do any good.

Pull the relay off the compressor and shake it. If it rattles, then it's probably good. If it doesn't, go buy a new one as suggested.

Repair is not usually recommended.

SOURCE: I have sylvania se80106-2 bar fridge. compressor

If the compressor is running and there is no cooling then the gas (feron) may have leaked out. The only way out is to get the gas refilled.

I have maytag mff2557hes fridge that seems to run more often than not. Freezer and fridge cool fine but it seems to run all the time. Is this normal?

Pull the unit out from the wall and check the coils at the compressor for lint and dirt buildup. The coils and fan should be free of any debris to operate correctly.

The power will not go on

does the interior light work? Does the compressor pump run?
Have you checked your domestic breakers or fuses.
Plug in a table lamp the outlet to see if you have power at the wall.
If you have power but nothing in the fridge works ...then it is down to electrical trouble shooting inside the unit.....

Maytage psd 262 not working at all

The clicking noise would be the start relay/overload. Pull the unit out away from the wall unplug the machine. Remove the rear panel on the side of the compressor is a black box remove the black box disconnect the relay and overload and replace. Walla working machine again. If you have any further questions message me back.
Thank you

My refrigerator stops working yesterday. Compressor and compressor fan seems to be working....inside fans are working but its not cooling, freezing or making ice.

Cut everything off for a few minutes then turn it back on and listen for a click from the compressor relay as the compressor tries to start.
Is the compressor motor running. If no check starter/overload relay. The relay is a small usually black cube shaped electrical part plugged into the compressor or wired to it nearby. It may appear burnt or rattle when shaken if it's bad. The two connections should show continuity with an amp meter. If it's good then it's most likely the compressor causing the problem.
Check to see if the condenser fan at the back underneath near the compressor is running. If no check fan.

Are the condenser coils near there warm or room temp. should be warm

Is the evaporator fan in the freezer running. It blows cold air into the fridge side through a damper in the wall between the freezer and fridge. Make sure the damper is open.

Below the evaporator fan is the evaporator coils. Remove the back cover in the freezer to observe the frost pattern. Light frost everywhere(NORMAL) or a partial pattern of ice(LOW ON FREON) or nothing(LOW FREON OR COMPRESSOR PROBLEM).
If it's iced up really heavy you have an auto defrost problem. Melt the ice with a hairdryer and check the defrost system.

Fridge not keeping cold..

Check the coils underneath the fridge. Carefully vacuum and brush the coils clean. Usually there is a condenser fan near the compressor and condenser and a evaporator fan in the freezer. Make sure they both are turning.

Our fridge and freezer seems to have turned off but the light is still on- we have a ten year old Liebherr KDVES4632, stainless steel-any tips, please? It is not blocked or obstructed at the back

Could very well be the compressor might have went bad. If nothing is running its the only thing it can be. Try turning both freezer/ refrig thermostats to their highest settings to see if compressor and evaporator fan is working.
