Question about Kirby G6 Bagged Upright Vacuum

Shampoo attachment How do I attach the shampoo attachment the Kirby G6? It grabs the belt when the red arrows line up instead of the green so I do not believe I am attaching it correctly. Also, there was lots and lots of foam. How do I make it suck up the excess liquid? Thank you.

Re: Shampoo attachment

I also have found that using 1/3rd of the amount of cleaning solution works better than what is recommended. AND, put water in the tank and THEN add the solution - adding water last creates tons of bubbles! Good Luck!

Re: Shampoo attachment

Sometimes when attaching the shampooer, the belt does not automatically catch when it is supposed to (in my experience). What I usually do is hold the belt out of the way as you are turning the part with the arrows on it, and as the "hook" comes around then let the belt catch and then turn it on around until the green arrows line up. As far as the foam, there should be a dial somewhere on the shampoo tank (on top, I think) that turns. If the shampooer is constantly producing foam, then that means that the dial is turned completely open which allows the foam to flow. Turn the dial all the way the other direction which will stop the flow of foam so you'll be able to vacuum up the foam that's already been laid down without laying down more. I usually do my carpet kind of in sections, I'll lay doen a few rows of foam and then turn the foam off and suck that up, then do another section and so on. Anyway, I'm terrible at giving directions so I hope this was helpful to you!

How to assembel the kirby accesories to manually shampoo

I just did and it's multiple steps but not too hard.

There are complete detailed explanations if you do a search engine on kirby shampooer instructions. I found one explanation on Ebay, and another on EHow.

Step one - vacuum your carpet more thoroughly than you usually do. Each back and forth pass - four times.

Take off the dirt bag and the head off of your Kirby.

Where the dirt bag attaches to the Kirby is where the shampoo mixing container goes. Before you attach the mixing container on there take your container and fill it to the 1st line for a very small area, 2nd for a medium sized area, and to the third line for an average sized bedroom. A large living room may need a second container. For the solution - you must use Kirby shampoo. If you fill to the first water line - use one capful, 2nd line 2 capfuls, and etc. Make sure the sponge filter is positioned on the mixing container in the spot where it hooks onto the vacuum (mini-emptor).

The shampoo brushhead I find to be the biggest challenge because that L-shaped tube attachment gets in the way of the belt lifter when you try to hook on the belt. The belt is going to hook on the brushroller the same way it does on your vacuum head. Pop the brush roller in the head of the shampooer and then sit that head onto the tray mechanism.

Once you puzzle piece everything together and now ready to shampoo. Let me tell ya this - after the hassle of putting everything together - just do the whole room and make it worth the bother.

Turn the machine on, and lower the shampoo head ALL THE WAY DOWN, unless your carpet is ultra thick and then maybe just one click up. Turn the dial on the shampoo mixing container to on. Push the machine forward rather quick and pull back slow. Do overlapping passes. This will spread the foam nice and evenly. Let the foam sit for about 5 minutes, then turn the dial to off and go back over it slowly forward and backwards massaging the foam solution deep into your carpet fibers. Then let it sit for 2 - 3 hours. Then vacuum really thoroughly. Right after I go through the shampooing process and the carpet is still moist - I use a carpet brush and I scrub the foam even deeper into the carpet.

Good luck. Hopefully you will be motivated in the fact that I just did mine and the high traffic carpet looks really good. I just had clients come in and they noticed the difference right away, as it looks like a pro came in and did the job.

When rating my solution rate the clarity of the explanation NOT whatever you like Kirby stair shampoo system. I do not believe this is the way to shampoo either but this is not me who designed it. Will get the job done but it is a lot of scrubbing and rubbing.

Good Luck

How do I use the Kirby G6 shampoo attachment on upholstery?

You need to take the power nozzle off and attach the thing that looks like a little plastic cup with two hooks on it. This is the intake guard. Attach it to the front. Now remove the cloth bag and put the hose on the hole where the bag was. You'll have to line the arrow on the hose up with the notch on the Kirby and push the hose arm toward the Kirby until it pops on. If you need to, lube up the edges of the hole with a wee bit of vaseline or hand lotion. This makes the hose engage easier. This makes the vacuum blow out to power the suds gun, which should be a part of your attachment set. I like to use half water and half Kirby shampoo in the jar. Place the nozzle on the sprayer for foam. Since you lost your manual, you may need belt change instructions as well. Here is a link to my online guide that will show you how....
Hope this helps...

Kirby G6 attaching fluffer brush on shampooer

Sure can,

You have two choices,
1.) To use your shampoo attachment, you'll need the fluffer shield, To set up the attachment seperate the tray assembly (the part that holds the roller brush) from the nozzle assembly (the part that attaches to the machine). Now seperate the roller brush from the tray (easiest way is to pull the belt). Insert the roller brush into the fluffer shield (it only goes one way). Insert the fluffer shield with the roller brush installed into the nozzle assembly the plastic shield will be faced towards the front of the machine. Turn belt lifter to where the red arrows match and attach to the front of the machine. Turn belt lifter to where the green arrows match and you should be in business.

2.) Your using the floor buffing attachment it the easiest method just put on like the floor nozzle (thing you vacuum with).

How do i put together my kirby carpet shampoo system?

Vacuum thoroughly before shampooing for maximum cleaning. Then, remove the bag and the Power Nozzle to prepare for shampooing. Turn the Carpet Shampoo System Nozzle Belt Lifter to the right of the center position (fully clockwise) until the green arrows line up. a4bbc62.jpg Slide the slots on the side of the Carpet shampoo system over the outer shoulders of the Carpet Shampoo System Tray. e14fe2e.jpg While pushing up on the Belt with your finger, turn the Belt Lifter left (counter- clockwise looking at it from the front) until the red arrows line up. (The Belt Lifter Hook will catch and stretch the belt.)
Press the bottom Toe Touch Pedal all the way down to raise the front of the Kirby.

While sliding the carpet shampoo system Nozzle/Tray Assembly toward the Kirby and over the Motor shaft, connect the hooks on the bottom rear of the nozzle to the Attaching Bar.

Push the nozzle up against the Kirby and turn the Accessory Lock to the
right (clockwise) to lock the nozzle in place. To engage the belt, turn the Belt Lifter
all the way to the right (clockwise) until the green arrows line up. Then lower the Headlight Hood
