SOURCE: trying to get file videoconverter_v2.12.00 onto computer

You can go to the coby website they have a zip file download with converter....Just download it and install.I find however that you may have some issues converting .avi files.I think its because avi is a container not really a formatt of such...so not all .avi files are the same.Try converting from .mov format ..That is Quicktimes format.

I had to recode or reconvert my downloaded youtube .flv video from .avi to .mov before the MTV Video converter would work right. The output file will be a .mtv file.So try using .mov files instead of .avi.

Check the specification of your MP3 player to determine thetype of video file format it uses. Most common video files that MP3 players use are, AVI andWMV, there may be others such as FLV, MOV and DivX. If your player cannot play a video then it is anincompatible video file format, then you need to convert that video file to aformat that your MP3 player uses. My coby mp610 video player needs a mtv format converter. I cant find one online. I need it free as well. Any links?

Hello,

Support for Coby media players is on cobyusa.com .
For the mtv converter, Coby Media Manager must be installed .
  1. Enter cobyusa.com as the address in Internet Explorer
  2. Next select the Support link
  3. Choose the fix for MP822 and follow the steps for the download of your operating system.
  4. After the download, install the file for Coby Media Manager
  5. Run Coby Media Manager: on page top in Tools > Device manager... select the MP610 in this converter.
  6. Add the MP610 and click OK to setup this device
  7. For the setup of the audio format added to the mtv video format, select DEVICE on the left side and next on the right side under MP610 select Device Configuration
  8. For the MP610, under the tab [Output file format] the audio bitrate can be changed, the audio format is fixed MP3; the video format is fixed MTV; the image format is fixed JPG .

On page top under Help find more information about using the software.

I'd appreciate your vote when this information was helpful.

I can't download dvd's to my coby mp610 mp3 player

Ok for the first question

I find that the converter that comes with the player works well with files in the .mov format.Get a dvd ripper that can support Quicktime .mov file.Daniusoft DvD ripper supports .mov output conversion. If you cant find one that does that maybe you can ripp the DVD then convert the output file to .mov then after that use the converter that came with the player to convert to the .mtv format that the player uses.If you accidentally deleted it you can get another download from the Coby USA website..Here is the link to the page..

http://www.cobyusa.com/?p=prod&prod_num_id=212&pcat_id=1001

There are two files, one is a firmware update(the answer to the second question) and the other is the MTV Video Converter Version 2.12.00.

The second question

Just get the firmware from the above link...NOTE...read the pdf file included first.Back up you files also...the firmware will delete all files and return player to factory settings

i hope this works for you

Coby mp610 2g mtv unknown format

Hey try to get the video file you are converting to .mtv to convert to .mov first.I had the same problems until I tried it that way.Someone else somewhere says mpg is a good format that the converter will read well and convert properly.I never tried it though. However I find that .avi files will give you problems. This is because .avi is a container not a format.

Also remember Youtube videos download as flv files and if you use MediaCoder like I do,to convert from flv to .avi you will have problems because the actual format will be Xvid and the container .avi.

fFor the sys err problem..visit the Coby USA website ...there is a firmware fix there. The actual link is on this site in another Coby mp 610 question.

I hope this works...let us know
