Question about HP DeskJet 540 InkJet Printer
When I touch the print buttom, all I receive is a loud clink sound and the two lights start to flash.
I've just fixed a Deskjet 420 with the same problem.
In my case the printer had not been used for several years, when I opened the printer lid I could see that the ink had leaked out of cartridge and solidified around the print head. I was able to manually move the printhead out of the way, VERY gently brake up the solidified ink with the end of a screwdriver, after repeating this process a number of times and installing another ink cartridge I had a working printer salvaged from the junk in my garage!
