Tub is not spinning - Frigidaire FWS833A Top Load Washer

The wiring or the control is messed up. I didn't know twin tub machines were still made. They are very 1970s.

wash tub spins in only one direction it cannot spin in other direction

I suspect that your drive belt is wearing out.

not sure I understand you, but ur drum should or does not spin when full as it is set that way, first the drum drains most of the water then it goes into spin?

If this is a top loader machine than the lid latch switch is broken and needs to be replaced.

check the spin clutch

im a repairman,lets reason this out.if washer wont spin because the tub is so warped that when it spins its so out of balance then ok new tub.or the tub welds are broken and some part is dragging and not letting it spin then ok new tub.or spin bearing has failed and ruined tub support shaft,ok new tub.but why else would you need a new tub for a no spin problem,not sure,and to answer your other question , can you fix the tub if any of the above problem exist.no you would have to replace tub.i hope that helps,God bless ,tom....ps if i have been helpful please remember to help me with my ratings,tom

One of the support arms on the back of the spin basket (stainless steel tub) is broken and causing it to spin in the fashion you describe. The only fix is to replace the spin basket. Using it in its current condition will cause serious damge to the outer tub shell. Let me know if you decide to replace it or need assistance locating a replacement tub. I can assist you in how to disassemble the washer and how to reinstall a new tub. Sorry...I wish this was better news.

If you have removed the drive belt from the rear pulley and the inner spin basket does not spin freely, you either have a drum bearing seized up on you, or something binding between the spin basket (stainless steel tub) and the outer tub shell. First, you need to reach inside the wash tub with the washer empty. Place the palm of your hand at the 12 o'clock position and push straight up. There shouldn't be any play in the spin basket. If you can feel the basket wobble up and down, you have either a bearing problem, or a spin basket support (spider arm) broken on the back of the spin basket. If there is no play at all, you probably have something caught. Small articles of clothing can sometimes get pulled between the tubs and usually ends up around the support shaft in the rear. This will obstruct the basket from spinning freely and could eventually cause damage to the drive motor, spin basket and/or tub bearings. You can use the instructions for replacing a rear tub bearing that I have posted under my Tip and Tricks for instructions on how to disassemble and inspect the tub. The bearing may not be bad, but you still need to check to see if anything is binding the spin basket against the tub shell and inspect the spin basket supports. Unfortunately, you have to disassemble the washer to be able to inspect any of these items I mention. I hope this helps you.

you may have blockage in the drain pipe several feet from washer. if you can run spin cycle with hose in different location ex. tub,sink or outdoors. if this works run long snake down washer drain pipe to clean gypsum residual.
