Hello, Welcome to FixYa.

So to make sure I understand you correctly, you've replaced the thermistor on the evaporator and the control board at the back correct ?

Is there power going to the compressor ? Does it make any attempts to start ? (usually a good indicator is if the condensor fan is running, but not the compressor)

I would check the compressor itself if you answered yes to all these things...with any luck it may just be a faulty start relay and therefor tripping the overload.

Here's how you can check the compressor...I don`t know the age of your fridge, but I should mention,

** Most of the manufacturers of fridges ( including GE ) have 5 to 10 years sealed system warranty which would include the compressor but not the electrical starting devices i.e., the overload & relay. Check your owners manual, it is the ultimate authority on warranty no matter what anyone else tells you according to.**

If you have a multi- meter you can check the compressor to see if the windings are ok. If you have a clamp-on you can check for amperage draw when trying to start which is good info to have as well.

**First, Unplug the fridge**

Remove the panel at the back down at the bottom. This should gain you access to the compressor.

On the side of the compressor will be the start relay/overload assembly such as this image...it may be enclosed in a black plastic cover as well.

2234770.jpg
Pull off the relay & overload and you'll see 3 pins in the form of a triangle...

ffd3e9e.jpg
With a meter measure between any 2 pins at one time, going between each pin with one remaining on a "common" pin.

You'll want 3 measurement's, similar to this example- 6ohms, 3ohms, and 9ohms.

On some meters you may simply get a reading of "0" ohms, as long as the needle moves off of "infinity" which would indicate an "open" winding=not good !

If following that, the readings are good, purchase a hard start kit. Part # HS410 also known as a 3in1 starter kit.

i.e.

775ec2d.jpg

The above package contains info and hardware on how to connect it.

NOTE : the HS410 ( 3 in 1 ) should be considered just a temporary "fix" as opposed to an actual "repair" in should not be relied on for long term reliability or safety, but rather thefactory replacemnet, double check with your model number.

Hope that help`s move you forward if nothing else. If so please take a second and rate the guidance and a testimony to your inquiry you received here at FixYa, either or all is appreciated.

Let me know if the compressor is indeed operating yet the fridge or freezer fail to cool and I'll continue to help in any manner I can. Good luck

Thank you for choosing FixYa today.

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if FREEZER CONTROL is turned WARMER WHICH MAKES THE REF COLDER AND VICE-VERSA. SEE?
The ref. temp should be about 33-35
The Freezer temp should be 0 to 10 Any thing below these temps is overkill and a waste of elect
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Make sure back cover is on the fridge. Some take them off and throw them away.
make one out of cardboard if its gone, using the holes of the old one.

STOP PAYING FOR EXPENSIVE WATER FILTERS FOR YOUR REF. DO THIS====

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.

There is a control panel reset for my GE Monogram side by side, Model # zfsb23dnss, It was "repaired" with a new board and now will not cool or freeze, HELP

There is no such button. What part # was on the replacement control board? Your model also has an INVERTER used to control the compressor... When the machine is turned "on" does the fan in the freezer and the fan near the compressor run? Is there any frost on the back wall of the freezer, or is it room temp? GE Refrigerator Main Control Board WR49X10152 .... GE Inverter Board WR49X10283 These two parts control compressor function on your fridge, the first two are the expensive parts called for by your model number- the second two are identical function, but cheaper part number!

GE Adora model #DSS25KSRASS side-by-side - the refrigerator side is not staying cold and periodically quits working

This is a very common problem that comes with your model refrigerator. I need you to pull the refrigerator away from the wall, unplug power, remove the panel covering the compressor and feel the top of the compressor. Is the compressor too hot to keep your hand on the top? What I believe is happening is the control board or the start components are defective causing the refrigerator to cool off and on or periodically as you said. The solution may require a new control board=> WR55X10942 Main Control Board

Should you choose to repair your refrigerator I will happy to answer your questions. This model GE refrigerator has caused many complaints because of the expense and frequency of this type of repair. Many home owners are better off with a refrigerator that does not have a motherboard and uses simple defrost timers or defrost control boards. Here nis a link to a=> DSS25KSRASS Service Manual

My GE Spacemaker microwave - control buttons seem confused. When I press one of the buttons, either nothing happens or it goes to the wrong screen. What is up?

On the JVM2070- and PVM2070-series microwaves, GE does not make service information or separate parts available.

So when you have an error with the controller that does not involve the smart board (and this error does not) then you have to order the control panel subassembly, which on your model (PVM2070SM1SS) is part number WB07X11143 and you can get it from the Pros here for $477.83 (subject to change).

It's very expensive but it's actually simple to replace that part yourself.

You would remove the control panel assembly as shown in our video here, then remove your smart board and attach it to the new control panel subassembly.

Some connectors on the relays have a lock:

If it's under warranty or GE Customer Service would give you a break on the the part cost, that would be a big plus for you.

GE model PDS22MFSAWW, clicking as if the unit is turning on and off? The digit temperature lights are gone, but fridge is running okay?

Due to the digital temp lights no showing , this is a sign of the main control board bad . The clicking from behind the refrig , clarrifies this . Replaceing the main control board , behind the refrig , behind the small 8 " X 10 " panel , will solve both problems . The part # WR55X10942 .

Stops cooling ice melts and leaks water on the floor

That model refrigerator uses the mother control board for deciding when defrost is to take place. It has no defrost timer or Adaptive Defrost Control like other refrigerators. This sounds like *********** board part number WR55X10942 is malfunctioning. The board decides most functions of your refrigerator. Until the board is replace I do not believe the problem will resolve itself. Thanks, Sea Breeze

My refrigerator/freezer intermittently gets warm

GE had a problem with their units I dont see which model you have here but if you pull the unit out and look on the back wall lower right side and see a cover plate with about 10 screws in it ther is a main ctrl board in the and it controls just about everything in your unit There is a relay on the board that controls the compresser as well it maybe sticking at times. The crappy part is you can not just replace the relay you have to replace the whole board.. if this is the case post the model # and i will get you the part# and cost on a replacwement it is something you can do yourself
