SOURCE: Sound from 3 channels only

Hi, first of all did you verify with the manual if it is possible to run a testsignal through all 5 channels?
One of the most common problems in this case is the basic settings of the device. If you don't have the manual, mostly you can download them from manufacturers website. Chances are that for some reason the setting is set 3.0 stereo (also known as 3channel sound) which is always the 2 fronts and the centre speaker.

Best thing to do it is take a DVD with THX on it and run the THX setup, it will send test signal to all channels.

SOURCE: i have the philips hts3440/37 none of the speakers work.

Doubtful that it is as serious as a fuse, unless it was working before and now it's not.

Are you getting no sound when watching DVD's? Try adjusting the volume on the home theater system - press the SURR button until it says "Dolby" or something like that.

Make sure it is connected like this:

SOURCE: Just bought a Philips home theatre system HTS3544 low sound?

You may also need to change the speaker set up. Go to DISC setting (one of the top selections on the remote) make sure you have no Disc in the DVD player. When in this mode press setup on the remote. On this menu you will have a option to adjust the speaker volume.

I had to increase my speaker volumes to get better sound. This setting is not accessible if you try to do the set up in other than DISC setting. Be sure to check the SURROUND setting. The SURROUND button on the remote will toggle between stereo and surround as stated in a previous post.

SOURCE: Sound from 3 channels only

Sometimes what happens is that people r just confused with all wirings.Considering that you have connected the speakers correctly...Now according to u the center speaker is not working

  1. If u have a jack attached at the end of the speakers then try connecting the center speaker jack into the Right front/Right Rear/Left Rear socket at the back of the reciever.Just to make sure that your speakers r fine.
  2. Secondly play an audio cd first, sumtimes a video DVD not being 5.1 channel one confuses a lot.
  3. Assuming that you have checked the center speaker, like I asked u too,Connect it into its proper socket or better connect all the speakers.
  4. Now with the remote you check the predefined equalizer in it n keep changing that [pop, rock, jazz etc] or you might even want it to change it to 5.1 from a 3channel or 2channel Stereo.Everytime you change it listen to every speaker.
  5. Also check that you have increased all the speakers volume one-by-one.
  6. Disconnect any headphones attached.
  7. Switch on the selected source or select another source.
For further details u can check the manual.
The VGA cable of the monitor will work fine.

SOURCE: The volume has suddenly become

You need to A) define the hardware; B) consider what is common to the external inputs that could possibly affect their volume. Speakers are common to everything and have no way of knowing what the source is, so forget about them.

Look at every control and indicator. Understand what the mean and do. Lower the volume to something reasonable before flipping any switch you dont understand.

Your amplifier died a noble ***** and almost went up in flames. Some discrete component burned up and let you know about it.

The subwoofer output on my Kenwood VR-606 has suddenly stopped working. I have tried the "setup" several times, turning the subwoofer off and back on. Also, when I first power up the system, it emits a low...

It sounds like the problem is not with your VR-606. If you hear a hum from the sub, the problem is more likely to be in the sub's built-in power amplifier. However, it is worth resetting the amplifier to factory presets. To do this, unplug the power cable from the mains supply and reconnect whilst holding down the power on/standby key. If the hum persists, connect any powered speaker to the sub-out socket, power on and listen for the hum. If no hum then suspect the powered sub amp. Turn the sub on with no connection to the Kenwood VR-606. If hum persists, the sub has a problem and will need to be replaced or repaired. By the way, you said there is a low frequency hum through the 'speakers' for about 30 mins. Is that all speakers or just the sub? Hope this helps.
Cheers, Don.

Hello. I just purchased these speakers and there is a low static hum in them. Also, if I turn up the bass volume on the subwoofer I get a deep hum and no sound. Any assistance would be greatly...

Double check your wiring again, sounds like something is either not hooked up right or maybe you got faulty speakers. There shouldn't be any hissing or humming in any speakers. Get a flash light and make sure you have it in the right spot on your computer most sound cards have about 5 different jacks you could have simply put it in the wrong jack.

Wharfedale 10inch cude subwoofer that has a feedback hum when con

Hiya, try a different input cable (from amp to sub) if you have make sure that is ok.

Failing that if there is an earth in the plug, try to disconnect that (earth loop) - unlikely but hey electronics.... anything possible :)

If still there with new cable, earth off etc, then the Yamaha could have a problem but find that difficult to swallow...

Let me know if helps, see any other possibilty
Best of luck

Acoustimass Subwoofer has a low "hummm" sound when turned on.

Sounds like an inadequate ground wire in the signal cable. You may have to replace the cable between the reciever and bass module. It also, however, may be IN the bass or reciever module.
