HP 6940 won't print black-new cartridge installed-prints color but no black

In all likelihood your print head has become clogged at the black ink outlet. Be aware that printheads can BURN OUT if you keep trying to print and there's insufficient ink reaching the printhead. The ink flow is relied upon to prevent overheating of the tiny resistors at the printhead. Best bet is to remove the cartridges from the printhead and then remove the printhead and try to clean it in warm water. You will find many youtube videos on suggestions for cleaning the printheads on HP printers. Do a google search for your model. If all else fails you can order replacement printheads for the part that has failed. They are not cheap so price compare. Oftentimes they will cost nearly as much as a new printer!

Advent resetting ink levels

Hi There
Your all-in-one printer is designed to stop printing before quality is compromised. Make sure you always use KODAK Ink Cartridges. Kodak is not responsible for the compatibility or performance of non-Kodak brand ink cartridges or refilled ink cartridges. To purchase KODAK Ink Cartridges, go to the KODAK Store.
To resolve the error, replace the black ink cartridge with a new cartridge:
  1. Turn on your printer.
  2. Open the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For ESP 3250 and ESP 5250 all-in-one printers, if the ink cartridges don't move to the center when you follow the instructions on the LCD screen, see Printhead and ink cartridges do not move to center with access door open.
  3. When the printhead stops moving, pinch the latch on the black ink cartridge and lift it out of the printhead.
  4. Remove the new black ink cartridge from its bag.
  5. Remove the protective cap from the black ink cartridge.

CAUTION: Insert the ink cartridge immediately to prevent the printhead from drying out.
  6. Insert the black ink cartridge into the printhead.
  7. Press down on the tab until you hear a click.
  8. Close the access door. For printers with LCDs, follow the instructions on the LCD screen.

NOTE: For more information on installing ink cartridges, see the Extended User Guide for your printer. Review Maintaining Your Printer - Replacing ink cartridges.
If the error continues, upgrade the firmware for your printer:
  1. Press the Cancel button on your printer to clear the error message. (If the error does not clear, contact us.)
  2. Upgrade the firmware for your printer:
    1. Locate and select the firmware download for your printer.
    2. Follow the instructions to install the firmware.
  3. If the error continues, contact us.

My HP Officejet Pro K8600 won't print black. I have changed the printhead, the cartridge. I have soaked the printhead, I have shaken head. I am getting yellow ink out but no black. I have run every...

Materials needed: New empty syringe (big one) Gloves (to protect your hands fromink) Alcohol Paper tissue (to clean the excessink) Empty Plastic bottle (Here you putthe ink from the syringe) Important: Ensure that you have put new blackink cartridge to K8600. Ensure that the printhead arerecognized by the printer or no light alarms. Instruction: Press the Power button to turn onthe printer. Test print in microsoft excel with4 color black/yellow and cyan/magenta. If black only is missing means youhave clogged problem from the host. Wear your globes, prepare thematerials needed. Open the top cover. Press and hold the Resume buttonuntil the carriage moves to the left. CAUTION: Be careful not to proceed until the carriage is on the left sideof the printer. If the carriage does not move to the left automatically, turnthe printer off and back on and then try holding down the Resume button again. The printhead can be damaged if the carriage is not all the way to the left forinstallation. Lift the printhead latch. Lift the handle of a printhead anduse it to pull the printhead black/yellow out of its slot. Put printhead in thepaper tissue upward. Your printer are still ON becarefull not to touch the flex copper circuit. Get your syringe, use this to pullthe ink from the nozzle cap ( see link picture) After the done the syringe method,Insert the printhead black/yellow into its color-coded slot. Press down firmly on the printheaduntil it snaps into place. Pull the printhead latch all theway forward, and then press down until the latch engages. Close the cover. The printer should align theprintheads automatically in a few minutes, printing an alignment page. Print a test with black color only,If it does not print, try to change the Printhead. My printer only prints color..have installed new black cartridge but still only prints color so installed another new black cartridge and still only prints color

Unlike most printers where the print cartridge and printheads are attached and sold together, the ESP 3 has a separate printhead from the cartridges.

Remoe both cartridges. Then look at the place where the cartridges sit. There is a latch you push down in the back. This will release the printhead to allow it to be removed.

Remove the print head

Take a cotton swap and a little alcohol and clean the printhead of all ink. Repeat this until it is totally clean.

Make sure the printhead is dry and clean of all ink and alcohol.

Replace the printhead.

Place cartridges in and test.

If this does not work, then you need a new printhead for this printer.

here is an example of how to remove and replace printheads for thsi unit.
http://faqs.kodak.com/atg/faq/attachments/AUR1780-2.pdf

to gt a new printhead you must contact kodak
http://www.kodak.com/go/contact

probably as expensive or almost as expensive as a new printer.

The seperate printhead from the carts are why kodak can have their ink so cheap. Those other brands cost that extra 15-20$ for the attached new head with each cart.

HP L7590 cannot locate printhead latch...don't think there is one

Ok...

The printheads are located in the internals of the printer. To get to them you need to gently lift the control panel up and you'll find this hinges up showing the inside of the printer.

You should then see on the printers LED that you can press and hold the OK button for 5 seconds to change the printheads. Do this until you see the printhead carriage moving out of the parking bay over towards the left.

IMPORTANT: Let the printhead carriage get over to the left and sit for at least 10 seconds before you do anything else as sometimes the printer opts to move the thing after a couple of seconds. Annoying but it can cause damage.. So wait a few.

Once the printhead is all the way over to the left, lift the blue plastic latch/cover from the front and this will reveal the two printheads.

You can now change and/or install your printheads before closing the blue plastic latch/cover and closing the printer lid.

Hope that helps.

Printhead problem (black/yellow) on HP L7780

When you removed the paper it's possible your damaged it and that's why the message is not going away. Did you try to put the cartridge back in to make sure it had not come out of position and just remove the power cord for a minute then plugging it back it.

Here are the steps to make sure you properly change the cartridges and the heads...

Install the ink cartridges and printheads Step one: Install the ink cartridges All four ink cartridges must be correctly installed for the HP All-in-One to work. Follow the steps below to Install cartridges:
  1. Open the ink cartridge cover.
  2. Remove each ink cartridge from its package.
  3. Align each ink cartridge with its color-coded slot and then insert the ink cartridge into the slot. To ensure proper contact, press down firmly on the cartridges until they snap into place.
  4. Close the ink cartridge cover.
Figure 1: Installing cartridges c00841893.gif 1 - Open the ink cartridge cover. 2 - Remove the ink cartridges from the packages. 3 - Install the ink cartridges. 4 - Close the ink cartridge cover. Step two: Install the printheads Follow the steps below to install the printheads.
