I was having the same problem, the black seal under the tank that captures the water was broken, and it wasn't getting any suction.

SOURCE: Reginna Steemer Carpet Cleaner- older model- will not suck

Check for clog in motor intake. Take off the tank and look up into the motor. There will be a round tube with a plastic grate.

SOURCE: hoover will not suck carpet shampooer

the most common problem is the recovery tank. Most often the square piece of plastic that attaches to the side of the recovery tank is not snapped in-- it comes loose when you dump the tank. Take off the lid, pull the clear plastic sqare (about 4 inches by 5 ) that is attached on the OUTSIDE of the recovery tank and snap it back into place.
2nd make sure the rubber rim is clean and free of debris
3rd attach the lid with the hinges on the back first then snap down the lid
4th make sure the yellow float is down on the bottom (this is inside the filter inside the recovery tank)
5th put the recovery tank in the machine FRONT FIRST (where the two round peices of plastic are)then back, snap the sides back to lock the tank in place.
If these things dont work....make sure your not clogged with debris on the top (but I am sure you would have seen this before doing all the rest!)

I love the shampooer, but now will not suck up the water

User's Guide states you should clean the filters after each use. Check your User's Guide for the 2 filter locations. They are easy to get at one under the water tank cap (looks like a screen) and the other is located under the Flow Indicator (the cap unscrews). Good luck. More questions? I wouldn\'t attempt that unless it says you can do that in the manual. Use a steam cleaner. They are made to suck up water.
