SOURCE: Yamaha Receiver RX-V463

Do not use HDMI thru your receiver. Go directly from the Cable box to the TV. Connect coaxial digital or optical to your receiver. Your receiver uses HDMI version 1.1 or 1.2, which is riddled with issues. If you want to read about them, Google HDMI Problems and you can read for hours. Long of the short of it is; Don't pass HDMI thru your receiver, use the receiver for audio only. Hope this answers the question. Sorry for the bad news! I'm in the industry and have been dealing with these issues for a couple years now.

SOURCE: no picture from wii

The RX-V800 switches the various video signal types separately.
Since you are feeding S-Video to the TV the composite (yellow) input from your Wii is not going anywhere.
If you cant get S-Video output from the Wii then I'd suggest a simple Composite to S-video adaptor plug ($5 say). It worked for me with a Game Cube.

SOURCE: Yamaha RX V 657 - No Sound Output, and No input detection

Bad DSP chip. The only other possibility is if you have the "Direct" on. On the front of the receiver it's a small button. Also make sure your "Speaker Select" A/B is "on" You will see it on the display, it's also a small button on the front of the receiver. If all this is correct and you still have no audio, it's a bad DSP chip. Not worth repair, it's 400-500 repair. Not very common in a Yamaha RX-V series, but I have seen it. I'm a Yamaha Dealer. If you need further help, post a comment and I will be glad to help you further.

SOURCE: RX-V465 Yamaha Reciver we can get picture but no sound w/PS3

Check HDMI Sound settings:
Enter Setup menu via remote, then Func. Setup / HDMI / Audio. You can choose from Amp (sound will be played via Yamaha), TV (sound will go straight via HDMI out to your TV and not play on Yamaha) and Amp+TV (Yamaha will play the sound and also pass it to the TV).
Also what is your source? DVD or some network player? For example Yamaha cannot decode audio in AAC or other computer formats, so be sure to change the audio settings of your player to output PCM and not raw/bitstream.

How do I connect my Yamaha RX-V733 to a CD Player?

I don't see a RX-V733 on Yamaha's site. However, look for a stereo audio input on the receiver. Then use the appropriate audio cable or adapter for the CD player audio out.

Depending on the CD player, you should use either an RCA M/M to RCA M/M (red/white) audio cable or a 3.5 mm headphone to RCA stereo audio cable. (If you don't have a headphone to RCA stereo audio cable, you can use adapters on either side. Examples: 3.5 mm M to RCA F/F adapter to RCA audio cable as above or 3.5 mm M/M cable to 3.5 mm F to RCA M/M audio adapter, depending on which cable you want to use and where you connect the adapter.) After making this connection, turn on the CD player, select the appropriate input.

The connection for an external audio device (like a CD player) is shown on page 31 of the manual for the RX-V773. Even if this is a slightly different model, the image may help. The manual is available from Yamaha on the product page: http://au.yamaha.com/en/products/audio-visual/av-receivers-amps/rx-v773_g/?mode=model . Click on the Support tab. The direct link to the manual is http://download.yamaha.com/api/asset/file/?language=en&site=au.yamaha.com&asset_id=54075 .

I hope this helps.

I connected the HDMI 1 input from my tv to the HDMI output on the Yamaha Rx-v673 but i do not get any signal going throught to the tv. when i try put my samsung input source as HDMI 1 the tv prompts me...

To connect a TV you should use the Rx-V773, not the 673.
With the 673 you can use TV only as input, not output.
However there is a firmware update for your receiver. Try it.

I cannot figure out how to get sound through my Yamaha RX-V361 from my LG 37CS56 hdtv

Are you using any kind of Decoder or Set Top box to receive your TV signal?
If so you can connect the RCA OUTPUT from your cable or satellite decoder, to the Yamaha inputs. See the picture I have attached for you.
Then when you want to hear the sound from there, select DTV /CBL input on your remote control of the Yamaha receiver.

Or you can locate the SOUND or AV OUTPUT (Red and white RCA connection) at the back of you TV, and connect the cables from there to your Yamaha receiver.9_9_2012_6_50_32_pm.jpg

Zone 2 Setup on the RX-V773 using the ZONE2/PRESENCE Extra Speakers The RX-V773 extra speaker terminals can power one set of speakers for Zone 2 or Presence speakers. If the extra speaker terminals are utilized then the RX-V773 cannot be set for Bi Amp (Surround Back/BI-AMP terminals). Setting the Extra Speaker Terminals Note: The RX-V773 remote control will be used to access the On Screen Menu of receiver. 1. Press the On Screen button on the remote control to enter the On Screen Menu. 2. The On Screen display should be displayed on the TV/Monitor. 3. Press the Arrow Down button on the remote until Setup comes up in the screen. 4. Press the Enter Button on the remote control. 5. The Setup Menu will come up across the TV/Monitor screen. 6. Use the Arrow Left & Right buttons on the remote to navigate to Speaker. 7. Press the Arrow Down button on the remote to select Manual Setup. 8. Press the Enter Button on the remote control to enter Speaker Manual Setup menu. 9. Speaker Manual Setup menu with Power Amp Assign highlighted will come up. 10. Press the Enter Button on the remote control to enter Power Amp Assign menu. 11. Speaker Manual Setup, Power Amp Assign menu will come up with Basic highlighted. 12. Press the Arrow Down button on the remote to select 7ch+1ZONE. 13. Press the Enter button on the remote to select 7ch+1ZONE. 14. Press the On Screen button to exit the on screen menu. To control Zone 2 using the RX-V773 remote, the switch at the upper left side (above the BD/DVD Scene button) of the remote must be set to Zone 2. To see the operations on the front of the Yamaha receiver you must press the Zone Control button on the front of the receiver. Note: Only analog signals can be sent to Zone 2. If you want to output the sound from Zone 2, connect an external component to USB Thumb drive, USB iPhone/iPod, Network, AV 5-6 or Audio 1-2 by analog connection. For AM/FM radio the antennas must be attached.

I just bought a Yamaha 5.1 system with rcvr RX-V365 i have HDMI to tv then HDMI to RCVR then another HDMI to DTV. Problem cant seem to get picture AND sound together through RCVR. depending on what setting...

RX-V365 doesn't support sound over HDMI. It can switch the video+audio from HDMI in to HDMI out, but can't play the sound through the speakers. You need to connect the audio separately via optical or coax digital cable.

The Yamaha RX-V463 AV does not playsound from the blue ray player

"I am also having difficulties in try to display the yamaha set up menu on the tv."
According to the manual the display menu for TV will not work with HDMI hook up.
I also have a Panasonic HD TV and can't get TV sound through my Yamaha AVR on "TV Sound" mode.  Trying to use HDMI cable for this also.  Do I need a digital optical cable or do I not have something set right?

I think the Yamaha will not upconvert anything below 480p through the HDMI output. You'll need to use the component out to the TV.
