Question about Washing Machines

Faulty WI 101 Washing maching

I can pursuade it to work! I have had it for 5 years... I try to program it, it thinks about starting, and then the knob just clicks round for ever, until I turn it off. It is making noises like it wants to work, but nothing is happening.

If it has a reset point, usually a black dot on selector switch dial then set it there and let it drain for a minute, switch off, reselect prog and switch on if no better then the main pcb is faulty, and will have to be replaced.
If no reset, then main pcb is faulty regardless.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Kenmoore 800 washer doesn't do anything

Possible that the timer controller is faulty as it fails to switch or move in the cycle of the program
Use WD 40 to clean the switch, the knob can be replaced if this turns loose.

Timer knob does not stay out

This means that the program controller unit is faulty and is not working. You can use a multimeter to check the voltage to the inlet valve and also check if the water level sensor is working to allow the program to start. If so the controller unit is faulty.

E43 indicates a motor circuit error.
Motor faulty.
Wiring faulty.
Main control board faulty.
Possibly a combination of the above.

First, try resetting the control board.

Turn the knob to off.
Turn the knob to the 6 o'clock position.
Wait till the start light begins flashing.
Press and hold the Spin button.
While holding it, turn the knob to 9 o'clock position.
Release the spin button.
Turn the knob to off.

(turn the knob clockwise, try the reset 2 or 3 times if needed).

Unplug the appliance and take the rear panel off.
Check the wiring and the motor plug.
If ok, take the belt off.
Take the motor out of the machine.
Check the carbon brushes on the motor.

If everything is ok, it would suggest the main control and/or the motor are faulty

Washer makes very loud humming noise in spin cycle but does not spin..I removed clothes thinking it was very heavy and it did spin out but when I put clothes back it returned w/no spin and loud noise..now...

Either the control board or the motor has gone bad. Here is the diagnostic mode to run to look for the errors.
The diagnostic test is performed by using the Program Knob. To START THE TEST: • On non-digital display models, turn the Program Knob to start position, Drain/Spin. • On digital display models, turn the Program Knob to start position, Touch Up. • Press Pause/Cancel to turn off LEDs. • Within 5 seconds, press and hold the Option and Pause Cancel buttons until LEDs start sequentially chasing, then release buttons. 1. All the LEDs will sequentially light. Pressing a button below a light cluster will light all the LEDs in that cluster at one time to confirm functionality. 2. Turn the program knob (1) click clockwise from the start position. The hot water solenoid will activate and hot water should enter through the detergent compartment. 3. Turn the program knob (2) clicks from the start position. The bleach water solenoid will activate and cold water should enter through the bleach compartment. 4. Turn the program knob (3) clicks from the start position. The bleach and the wash water solenoids will activate and cold water should enter through the softener compartment. 5. Turn the program knob (4) clicks from the start position. The door lock solenoid will activate. 6. Turn the program knob (5) clicks from the start position. The door lock solenoid will deactivate and the loading door can be opened. 7. Turn the program knob (6) clicks from the start position. The washer will fill and tumble. 8. Turn the program knob (7) clicks from the start position. The washer will fill and spin (leakage test). 9. Turn the program knob (8) clicks from the start position. The drain pump and door lock solenoid will activate and the washer will operate in high spin. SAFETY WARNING: If power is removed during this test, the door can be opened. To prevent injury, DO NOT put your hands inside when the tub is rotating. 10. Turn the program knob (9) clicks from the start position. The control will signal the last error code.
Repost the error codes here.

I am taking this as a machine with a timer knob. If so, you may have to advance the timer manually to get it to go. You may have stumbled onto a slightly dead spot on the timer. I think I would just leave the lid up next time. That will stop everything and give you the soak time you so desire.

that would be your timer. Yes, it would have to be replaced and it isn't cheap depending on the year and if it is digital or not.

I press the start button and it says error.

Had the same symptoms. Tried unplugging power for 5 minutes, no change. Did the Select+options button for 5 seconds, the column of lights flashed once, and then I hit the Start, the door locked, clean clothes followed shortly thereafter :)
