Straight from the user guide, just discovered it today because I have also been having this frustrating problem. Use Fn + F6 - it is a toggle switch to enable and disable the Touchpad. I have a Lenovo wireless mouse now instead.

Youcan change the pc in store or get a refund but that all related to the national law. I don't know where you located. contact your seller to sort out the problem.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Cursor jumps around

If your cursor moves erratically on the screen (for example, if it jumps around the screen, moves at varying speeds, or selects items on its own), perform the following steps:

  1. Clean the surface of the touchpad with a dry, soft cloth to remove grease, sweat, moisture, or other liquids.
  2. Adjust the sensitivity of the touch pad:.
    1. Click the Start button and click Control Panel.
    2. Click Printers and Other Hardware.
    3. Click Mouse.
    4. When the Mouse Properties window appears, click the Pointer Options tab. (Figure 1)
      10583022.gif
      Figure 1: Pointer Speed
    5. Under Select a pointer speed:, click to move the slider bar closer to Slow.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Check to see if the touch pad still behaves erratically.
  3. If the touchpad still caused the cursor to behave erratically, attach an external mouse to your computer and restart your computer. Use the external mouse to see if your cursor still moves erratically.

Try this software:

http://code.google.com/p/touchfreeze/downloads/list

Touch Freeze will disable the touchpad when you start typing. I have not used it, but give it a try.

Also, your touchpad could be wearing out or a driver reinstall could be in order. My wifes Toshiba had a bad touchpad and the cursor would jump all over the place. I disabled it and she now uses an external mouse. No problems anymore.

SOURCE: run awat cursor

When that problem happens to me I turn off my pointer pad. I have a Compaq Presario and it has a button to shut off the mouse pad. When I simply shut it off it does not jump when I am typing. I don't know the originating cause but at least I can make the annoyance go away when it would bother me the most. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Cursor jumps around

I have suggested in the past that people with this type of problem download Intellipoint Mouse software, from Microsoft.

It's a free download, and so far, I have had a good rate of this solution working.

Here is the download page from Microsoft.com,

SOURCE: Jumping cursor on EEE pc.

You're hitting the touchpad with your palms as you type. Either lift your hands when you're typing or temporarily disable the touchpad.

Hello

There are five different models of the G580 laptop on the Lenovo web site. You may need to open each one to find the correct driver that you are looking for.

Below is the main web page that lists all 5 models.

I have installed windows 8 for my new laptop lenovo G580. The scroll has not been working since then. I have been trying all the ways to unlock it but couldn't find the solution.

Just one of the many flaws in Windows 8. Unless you have a touchscreen laptop, you have wasted your money. Sorry! But, in reference to your problem, it would seem as if you have not installed the operating system correctly. Your laptop is available with Win 8 pre-installed. So, it should work fine. I would suggest checking your device drivers.

PRINTER TO LAPTOP

First download and install the correct software for the Printer on the laptop, you didn't post the HP printer model. In the install of the software follow the on-screen instructions. OR plug in the Printer using a USB printer cable, the Win 8 software should try to apply the driver, if available, but you may not have ALL the printer functions until you install the correct HP Printer software.

Lenovo580 20157 laptop camera not working.

Try re-installing the WEBcam river.
The same model Lenovo can have different types of network, video and audio drivers and unless you know exactly which one is installed in your Lenovo, you need to download all the drivers and install each driver until you find the right driver. When you download the drivers, write down the device driver and it's file name so you have a record of which driver you are installing and which directory the unzipped files are located on your hard drive. Go to the IBM/Lenovo WEB site - support/download page and download the latest Windows device drivers for your model computer, Use this link: - http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/product.do?template=%2Fproductselection%2Flandingpages%2FbrowseByProductLandingPage.vm&sitestyle=lenovo&brandind=10&validate=true

G580 WILL NOT SHUT DOWN

In windows 8, Set to High Performance, set Sleep and Hibernate to Never, set What to do when Lid is closed, adjust Advanced Power Options to your preference. Always Shut Down the Laptop and unplug when not in use to prevent damage due to power surges. Can you help me? I don't know where to look on your fixya website? Should I expect an answer tommorrow? I see that your website is pretty busy. I see people with I phone and other technology

Have you done all updates, HotFix's in Windows and Lenovo? Take a look at the lenovo site: http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/research/hints-or-tips/detail.page?DocID=HT073547. Open the software (Synaptics or Elan?) associated with the touchpad, look for sensitivity, may be a adjustment. It's new, so use the Tech support at : http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/feedback/contactsupport.page?
