Question about Health & Beauty
My friend was riding back from the store and the chair suddenly just stopped. Will not power on. Batteries are about 18 months old but are always on the charger unless the chair is being used. When I try to power it on, I get nothing. No lights on the console, no beeps. I checked the fuses (both good) and I checked all the connections. Also checked the brake levers.
First only charge the chair prior to using it, constant charging will dry out the batteries. though not likely the batteries now sounds like a loose connection somewhere, batteries just don't stop they fade out slowly. look for loose connector

Indeed, you need to find a repair shop. Try a google search for power chair repair, or ask your local hospital or if you can find one a power chair store. Most likely, you have a mechanical failure of the wiring, the battery themselves, or corrosion on the battery posts. Since the chair lights up when the charger is in, it is unlikely that the charger is broken. You may have a failure of the controller board, but that is also unlikely. And batteries do not usually suddenly fail completely; they typically fail slowly, losing the ability to completely charge.
I assume that you did not see a great deal of fluid leaking out of the battery container; you might look in the container and check to see if a battery is cracked or missing fluid.

Yes, the main controller module can be very expensive to replace. I would take it to a reputable dealer if the battery replacement does not help.

What do the lights on the joystick do when you turn it on with the charger plugged in? If the lights are not scrolling then the chair is not recognizing the charger. If they are scrolling the charger is the issue. If you can try another charger.

the 1103 uses an onboard charger. Charger's life span is about 3 years; some fail in 6 months, some in 6 years keep in mind. You can charge the 1103 using an offboard charger which are available for about $50.00 on Ebay. Search for electric wheelchair charger. You want one that has a 4 to 6 amp rating.
The offboard charger has a 3-prong connector on one end and the other plugs into a grounded wall outlet. Plug the charger into an outlet and the three prong connector into the female three prong connector located at the bottom front of the joystick. Give it a good overnight charge and it should be back up to snuff in the morning.
