SOURCE: GE side-by-side: freezer making grinding noise.

did it sound like someone snoring in your freezer? that is your icemaker trying to eject cubes, and that noise in and of itself, is nothing to be worried about, that is normal. however, if your icemaker was failing to produce ice, when your husband removed the icemaker, was it near overflowing with ice, or did it look like it just had what would be a normal amount, i.e., the ice in the mold was little more than helfway. if it seemed like it was a normal amount of ice, then the heater on the bottom of the icemaker failed, replace the icemaker. if you had an abundance of ice in the icemaker, you may have a problem with either your water vavle solenoid not closing completely, or the icemaker motor itself is slow, causing the valve to be open too long. without checking it personally, i cant advise either way

SOURCE: how do you remove the back panel of a PSC23NSTSS

Behind that cardboard there will be a drain exit that fill a pan that the fan blows over. But the correct way would be through the entrance and that is found inside the rear wall of freezer. Let me see if I can find some illustrations. Sea Breeze

SOURCE: Our GE Profile TFH22PR freezer

The problem is in your defrost system and could be either the heating element http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/GE-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/WR51X442/0046/363/Model-TFH22PRRAWW/0432/0165000?keySuffixId=NA&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=TFH22PRRAWW&subCompDesc=Freezer%20section&brandDesc=GE&modelDesc=93-GE-PROFILE-DISP&blt=11 or the defrost thermostat http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/GE-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/WR50X122/0046/363/Model-TFH22PRRAWW/0432/0165000?keySuffixId=NA&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=TFH22PRRAWW&subCompDesc=Freezer%20section&brandDesc=GE&modelDesc=93-GE-PROFILE-DISP&blt=11 or the defrost control aka defrost timer http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/GE-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/WR9X489/0046/363/Model-TFH22PRRAWW/0432/0165000?keySuffixId=NA&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=TFH22PRRAWW&subCompDesc=Freezer%20section&brandDesc=GE&modelDesc=93-GE-PROFILE-DISP&blt=11
So if you replace all three you have approximately $100 in parts, but all three can be check with an ohm meter to find out which one is bad.
They are also not that difficult to replace and this layout http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/GE-Parts/Refrigerator-Parts/WR9X489/0046/363/Model-TFH22PRRAWW/0432/0165000?keySuffixId=NA&productTypeId=x&searchModelNumber=TFH22PRRAWW&subCompDesc=Freezer%20section&brandDesc=GE&modelDesc=93-GE-PROFILE-DISP&blt=11 will ive you an idea of where you will find them, if you are going to do the repair yourself. If you do make sure that you unplug the unit from the wall and that you remove everything from the freezer side to make sure you have room to work. You can use a hair dryer to defrost your unit for not and it will work for a week or so until the parts arrive.

GE PSS26GRE SS not dispensing ice

    Hi,
The first step you need to do is to turn the water off to the refrigerator so it quits making until you get it fixed.
If your fridge has the control boards in each side of the freezer cabinet that controls the icemaker, then you have a failed board. If you have a standard icemaker with the metal shutoff arm then you have a failed motor module in the icemaker. You can remove the icemaker and unplug the wiring connector from it so you can leave the water on to the dispenser.

Replacing icemaker in GE GSH25JSTE side by side refrigerator.

generally its very easy. for your model it looks like the icemaker goes across the rear of the freezer section. if you will look on the left hand wall on the icemaker you will see a philips head screw remove this screw and pull the icemaker towards you and it will come out then unplug the wiring harness (this is probably the hardest part) there are 2 clips that keep the harness connected securley and you sometimes have to use a small blade screw driver to release them. onec icemaker is removed you have to remove the fill cup and the end stop off of the icemaker and reinstall on the new icemaker. one done just reinstall and turn it on. youre done!! BTW the new icemaker mostlikely will not have the green light the old one did so dont think youve got the wrong icemaker.. let me know if you need any further help Thanks Peyton

How do I remove the control panel on model JE2160

You need to take the back cover off using a special tork wrench. If you don't have one a thin blade screw driver usually works. after getting the back cover off access is pretty easy to remove the screws from the panel. Make sure to discharge the capacitor before attempting any repairs and unplugged of course.
