Question about Computers & Internet
My Advent Roma 1001 keeps turning itself off about 5-10mins after starting up. Pretty sure it's not overheating as its not hot, just crashes on me. It won't turn back on for maybe 20mins or so. If power is connected then the power on light is lit, but if disconnected it is off. It is impossible to turn it back on until its "ready" to do so. Any help greatly appreciated.
Have you cleaned the areas around the fan and vents? Is it getting sufficent air flow? A laptop cooler is a option. You may have to open to verify that it's clean. I don't know the age, make, model of the machine. Does it do the same without battery? Has it been left on for extended periods of time? Plugged in for long periods of time? Hard to say exactly? Have you looked at the power options?

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

SOURCE: Can't boot up laptop
If your Usb port works, then the mobo is working, so possible graphics problem. Try booting up in safe mode(normally pressing F8) on boot up then highlight 'start windows in safe mode', to see if Windows will load with only minimal drivers, if so restart again, pressing F8 again, but this time highlight 'start windows with last known good configuration' Doing any of these 2 things can be done in any order, either last known good config first or safe mode.

The fact that the laptop is recognising the battery's presence and yet is not receiving any power from it is not a good sign I'm afraid. There are batteries available online for around £40 but you may want to take the laptop to a repair centre first where they can usually tell you (for around £7-£10) if it is definitely a battery malfunction or not before you splash out on a new one.
Sorry I can't be any more help, battery issues are usually pretty black and white, they're either broken or working. Hope you manage to get it sorted either way.
