I removed the board, installed the single convergence chip and 4 pico fuses. Reinstalled the board and I get nothing on the front of the TV when I plug it in. there should be a light next to the power button. I press the power button and nothing happens. I checked the fuse next to the power input and it seems good.

usual mistakes happen, you lifted the foldover plugs on left side as seen from rear of the board? Take a good look at those first as when they get pressed back down the metal pins across the top often lift up just a little, any that are not perfectly flat are not seated, take a flat blade jewlwer screwdriver and push each pin on those (especially the front one) pins all down.

Are you saying to do this with the plugs connected? Also I need to know if there are any slots that are supposed to be open. One on the back of the video is enpty, there are no extra cables to plug in and one on the front of the power board is empty. I used a meter and checked the crossover power cable from the power board to the convergence board and I have 124vac.

How did you get at the chips? Which lights are you referring to?

SOURCE: Mitsubishi WS-65809 - works, but screen won't power on.

yes that is correct 12 is normal...make sure all connectors are plugged in and in the correct places . conectors should be marked with letters that match the marking on the circuit board. Then look for heaters , in the glass bottom of the picture tubes(CRTs) there should be a little orange glow visable though the neck of the CRTs just above where the crt boards plugg onto the bottom. if the heaters are not glowing then check your wires to the crt boards again , you probly tugged one of them too hard during disassembly also check for cracked solder in the heater circuit......Oh yeah, you didn't mention -Does the TV get high voltage ??? thats important to having a picture......If you see the heaters glowing when the tv is on then look down into the lenses of the crts . If you see a brite color horizontal line closer to one side in each of them then you know most of the tv is working. If that line is curved then the tv probly detects that the convergence circuit is not working and it is blanking video.
OR -----
the error is 21 (see what number it ends the sequence with..) . Error 21 is X_Ray protect and you probly plugged one of the connectors into the diagnosic connector(near the high voltage transformer- normally nothing goes there) . If that is the case then somthing in the H.V. circuit could have been permanently damaged and now the tv has a new problem and wont work even if you put that connector in the right place.

I have a mitsubishi ws-65809. I relpaced the STK392-570 ICs and turned on the tv and it powered on for 2 secs and went off. I ran the test and got a 2 and 2 blink. Then ran test and got a 1 and 2 blin

If you unplugged the set you will get the 1,2 no error found, the 2,2 is short protection, I hope you had that before the chips were replaced, it is one or both of the pico fuses bad that protect those chips.

see photo of board, locations are 9FAo4 and o5 on the middle board where the chips are but further back.
12_15_2012_1_52_39_pm.jpg they are both five amp pico fuses.

How do i test fuses on a circuit board?

F9A04 and F9A05 are the two picos to test. They are both 5amp pico fuses they will appear lime green and look like resistors without color bands. They are located on the same board as the convergence Ics. Just test them for continuity with a ohms meter.

Mitsubishi ws-65907 tv will not power on

one of the two pico fuses that protect the convergence chips this model uses is gone--see attached photo--

NEVER change just the fuses---if one of the two fuses is blown--the convergence chips got them-----

there are several ways to proceed from here-check the two fuses indicated in the photo and tell me if either or both are bad.

Convergence problem--blue lines won't line up

Your TV most likely has a convergence failure. ( common problem )

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

0dcec37.jpg
Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

0667c5f.pngSOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses. Its a fairly easy DIY job or you can call in a pro. If you want to do the repair yourself check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, thermal paste, email/phone support, etc.

WS-65809 ERROR CODE 22

look on the center circuit board and you will see two green Pico fuses they look like resistors but they dont have any bands on them . They will have F9A04 and F9A05 on the board next to them. Check with a ohms meter if those fuses are open you will ned new convergence ICs. Thats the first thing to check are those two pico fuses when you get a 22 error on your model.

Same as everyone green light comes on for a couple of seconds than back off!!!

ok, the problem with short detect....
unsolder all convergance ic's and try to turn it on.
does it come on?
if no, check all diods in the power suppy area.
check h-output
unsolder all convergance ic's and try to turn it on.
does it come on?
also might have a vertical ic.
mmm, check all fuses including the solder in pico fuses.
beleave they are sold green color.
when i get one that comes in they have 1 or 2 blowed pico fuses and that means convergance ics need replaced along with fuses.
good luck!!
