Question about Ovens

GE oven JKP26GOP2BG wont heat

The bottom oven that is controlled by the rotary knobs works fine. The top oven operated by the touch pad will not heat. When you set the temprature and start the oven it waits a few seconds and indicates that it has reached the proper temp but neither element gets hot.

Either the temp sensor probe in the oven cavity it open/shorted or way off scale and telling the control board the units up to the temp set point, theres a way to test these with an ohm-meter for resistance at certain temperature but i dont have the chart for that test,it may be inside the unit if you can locate it

Had a similar problem. The overheat sensor had failed to the open position and the oven control would light up and you could set the temp, but it would drop to 100 degrees and then go blank.

SOURCE: Oven doesn't reach temperature setting

It could be the plug/receptacle that the element plugs into. It could also be that the elements have separate thermostats and that the one for the lower element is bad. If you can post the model number I can look at the electrical schematic and know for sure if it has one or two thermostats.

I recently ran the self-clean option on my GE Profile JK955B0F5BB. Now when I set the touch pad to 350 degrees or more, the oven heats up to beyond 500.

That is not a valid model number, the issue is most likely the thermostat has failed. The part is about 12 dollars.

did you disconnect the elements then test there resistance

even getting 126v they will heat .. half up....

F7 Error on GE Profile electric oven. No response from keypad.

    Hi,
The F7 error code on your oven indicates the touch pad has failed. To repair it, you will need to replace the touch pad which is listed as a control panel.
If you do the repair yourself, disconnect the power to the oven. Take the 3 screws out above the door that holds the control panel on to the oven. Pull the control panel out at the bottom and lift it up, then pull out the top and drop it down so you can see the back side of the control panel, and you will see a ribbon connector going from the touch pad to the electronic oven control (ERC).
There is a latch holding the ribbon connector to the ERC, raise the latch to release and pull the ribbon out of the ERC.
Replace the part and reverse these instructions to replace the control panel.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks for using Fixya.

    Instructions required

I have a GE double oven. JKP44G with touch pad controls
Top oven door will not lock for cleaning cycle. I think I need a new motor for that.
Bottom oven will work sometimes and other times when I turn it on and select the temperature, thinking it is coming on - all of a sudden the temp light goes out like the oven is off and the oven does not heat. Sometimes I touch the clear button and then turn it on. Sometimes it works and other times not.
Could the connections in the control panel be dirty and not making connection at times?

Main question. How do I get to the control panel. How can I pull the oven out to clean the circuit or connectors and change the door motor. If I could just get into the panel I feel I could fix it.
