To clean the washable filters you need few things like a stool, screwdriver, brush for cleaning, vacuum with attachments and running water. Cleaning the air filters regularly will keep you away from different type of allergies which are caused by fungi, molds and bacteria.
You need to reset the filter timer. Press the "options" button, then "3" for filter timer, then "start". The filter timer should now be reset and you shouldn't see it say clean filter anymore. Hope this helps.
If you didn't turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF, before removing the filter. That is the problem. To clear the error message. Turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to OFF, unplug the unit, remove the filter and reinstall it. Wait 10 minutes, plug the unit back in, turn the Master ON/OFF Switch to ON. The controls should have reset themselves and the clean filter light should not appear.
Hope this helped you solve the problem. Please let me know. Thanks.

Generic problem for all Vacuums How do I clean the How do I clean the filters? Comment by Avonb, posted on Apr 22, 2008I have a Bagless twin clean, thought I was cleaning the filters but apparently not, the manual is very vague I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Not knowing the Model # or Brand name, it is a good idea that you can vacuum of the filters, if you have a blower – you can blow off the dirt from the filters, some filters are washable and you can clean them by washing them and letting them dry completely before you re-install the filters. Idea? If you have an old paint brush, that is ideal to clean off HEPA filters or cartridge filters or use a blower to clean off the dirt. You need to be the best judge on how to clean the filters. You can check the company’s website for the brand name such as: http://www.hoover.com ---- example given Don – The Vac Man
How to clean your filter:
The PermaWick™ Filter should be cleaned in a vinegar and water solution to remove any mineral buildup. Place in a solution of one (1) gallon of water and eight (8) ounces of undiluted white vinegar. Allow the filter to soak for 20 minutes.
After soaking, rinse it several times with clean water. Place the PermaWick™ Filter in a location where it can drip dry while you clean the other parts of your humidifier.
They say the frequency that you will have to clean your filter depends on yoru quality of water. The harder the water you have the more you will have to clean it.
