Remove extension table/accessory box by gentle pulling it away from machine. You are left with just the free arm. In the back of the free arm, lower left corner, you will fine the feed dog lever. Push the leaver to the right to lower the feed dog.Instructions for lowering and raising the feed dog are on page 48 of your owner's manual. Good luck!

am I right that the feed dogs do not drop on this machine?
Yes, this is correct....but you have to change the needle plate to a thicker one, so the feed dogs will be below the needle plate.

You need to set the stitch length to '0', use some stabilizer to help stiffen the material slightly (you can use it to trace your design onto as well) and try using an embroidery hoop this sometimes helps.
When you start you must push the needle down through the material and up again using the machines wheel and pull the bottom thread through from underneath. Do a couple of stitches to fix the thread and then go.
The most important thing to try and get right is the machines tension, this can sometimes be trial and error I am afraid. My machine tension works best on about a '3'.

Pull out the removable table and you will see the drop down feed dogs switch lever behind the back of the machine. Move that lever to the left or right to have feed dogs go back to normal sewing mode OR for embroidery mode.

On many machines you tilt the machine back on its hinges to see the underside and there you will find a thumbscrew to lower the feed dogs...you also need to be sure that your machine is capable of having its feed dogs lowered...not all machines can do this!
