This could be caused by a number of problems, such as a bad power inverter or bad backlight. This could also be a problem with the LCD screen malfunctioning. You can call Phillips customer support and give them the model number of your DVD player. Tell them about the problem with the malfunctioning LCD screen. They will help you find a solution. You can also visit the Phillips website and go to the customer support and put in the model of you DVD player and check the frequently ask questions and troubleshooting section to see if this is a know problem with a solution already found. The website is http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/dcbint/cpindex.pl?scy=US&slg=AEN&cat=PORTABLE_DVD_PLAYERS_CA&sct=PORTABLE_DVD_PLAYERS_SU&g Just click on the address and it will take you to the website. I hope this information helps you with your problem.

My tv screen has a black spot

HI,
Are you sure that there is balck dot on the sreen. Check one more time is it any dust on the screen.
Black spot Means pixel of the Lcd sreen is fault. There are thousands of pixels in an lcd screen. when any of the pixel or a group of pixels become faulty the black spot will appear. Its not possile to rectify the problem other than replacing the LCD panle if its avilable. The avilability of lcd screen is very rare.

On my toshoba pc 17'' sreen I have black spot on the top corner and the bottom of my screen , is my screen diying oley one year old

There are two types of black spots. The first, I call bruising. This is a dark area on the screen that can vary in size and still allows for proper viewing. The second is a black dot. If it is a black dot about the size of the period in this sentence, it is a dead pixel. Most manufacturers allow for up to 5 dead pixels before they will treat it as a problem. In either case, dead pixels and bruising are more of an annoyance than anything. I have seen screens with both issues work for up to 5 years under these conditions. They will eventually fail but how long it takes it to fail, is anyone's guess. There are numerous outlets for new or used screens. If you plan on keeping this for a while, I would recommend contacting the manufacturer to see if they will do anything or pick up another screen and have it on hand to replace it if it should fail.

Canon power shot sd1000 black dot on lens

If by saying the upper right corner of the lens you really mean that there is a dark spot on each image AND the rear display, there may be dirt or dust on the lens itself. Clean the lens with an optical quality cleaner. Do not use paper towels and Windex or the like - as paper towels can scratch the lens.

It is also possible that the dark spot is a "stuck pixel" on the image sensor inside the camera. There is no way to repair a stuck pixel outside of replacing the sensor. Any dark spot (regardless of source) can be edited out by using image editing software. This will allow you to to make the dark spot less noticeable - or practically invisible.

If the dark spot is on the rear display only, it can also be a result of a "stuck pixel" on the display itself. This should not show up an images, but only on the display. There is little that can be done outside of replacing the entire rear screen.

There are other things that can cause these problems, but those listed above are the most common.

I hope this was Very Helpful and good luck!

I repaired the female power jack in my Averatec and must have compromised something else in the process as now my screen has two large black quarter sized black spots, on quarter of the screen at upper...

If you put any pressure on the screen while repairing the power jack then yes, the LCD will need to be replaced. If you are certain that you did not physically damage the screen during the repair then it is possible that you damaged the motherboard (which houses the video processor). If the motherboard was damaged I would say it's time for a new laptop.
