SOURCE: water doesn't stay hot PowerStar AE3.4

Are you using a single lever faucet? The install guide does indicate that you may need to reduce the input from the cold water side to ensure that water stays at a consistent temperature (see page 7 of the installation and service manual). Also, remember, this is a SMALL hot water heater. So if you're running for any length of time at full output, it may not keep up with you (see page 8 of the service an installation manual). I found the manual online at

SOURCE: Bosch SX 250 tankless water heater will attempt to

This is also known as a flame rectification sensor. It basically is what the computer board uses to detect if the pilot flame is lit. When it makes an attempt to fire is there any evidence of flame ignition? This error does not mean that the sensor is bad for sure. The error could be caused because the water heater is only making three attempts to fire and then shutting down. These water heaters are very complex and have many sensors, valves, ect that are all controlled by a computer board. Some of the basic things to check for are... Make sure that you have plenty of gas pressure. These units have a built-in pressure switch and will have issues if they are starved of gas. Most of these tankless water heaters are up to 400,000 btus and a half inch gas line or undersized connector won't work well. You can also check and make sure there is no pipe dope are debris stuck in the screen inside the gas line where it enters unit. Inspect the pilot assembly for debris or obstructions and try to blow out with compressed air. Also look for any loose electrical connectors on the board or to the may have come loose.

SOURCE: water wizard 10P pilot light keeps going out

If the thermocoupler is defective the gas to everything is shut off. The coupler is the bulb that sits ib the pilot flame If it doesn't heat up it will sense no pilot and shut the gas off. They don't cost much and are easy to change. Good Luck, Ned

My AE115 has power going to it but no hot water

make sure you have the water connections right. the inlet goes on the blue side. Also, your pressure must be a minimum of .8 psi. If not there will be no hot water and the neon will be off. other possible causes might be a crossover in your plumbing or a stuck flow transducer. Here is a link to a guide to explain how to check these items.

Flashing light means bad control unit..or your flow is too low. If you have a couple fixtures on, and its still blinking, the board needs to be replaced.

Call Bosch. And exercise your 10 year parts warranty rights.
Copy following link for Bosch power star manuals:
Check circuit breakers, fully off and then fully back on. Test if voltage is at least 80% rating plate on unit. Check that temperature dial is set correctly. Call for service again.
Don't install tankless computer that heats water. You cannot fix this computer yourself, and they are problematic for owners.
Go to Lowes right now, spend $285 and buy tank-type electric water heater, roll it into your house, and save money, since the electric tankless computer heater costs average $100 more per year to operate than tank-type heater for average family of 4.
Tank type heater can be repaired by homeowner same day for $25 using off-the-shelf parts from hardware store. And that empowers the regular guy, and gets you off the junk tankless treadmill.

Electric bill doubled last month, and we've had the Powerstar AE125 tankless electric for over a year. There are no leaky faucets.

There are a lot of other things that eat electricity. Like space heater and using ovens for heat. Heat pump.Central heat fan running all the time. House lights left on. Outside flood lights. Clothes washer using HOT water. Look around real good. It all adds up. Also the power co. may be charging more for "fuel" costs surcharges. Here in GA I'm paying a bit more now to pay for a nuclear power plant.

50 gallon electric heater not working after about 5 minutes in the shower the water gets cold and the rest of the house i do have 240 going to water heater thermostats goood element good

Some elements will read with a meter good until they heat up.

Hot water then going to ice cold top element is working and bottom bad. Luke warm water and then goes cold bottom element good and top element bad.

Elements and thermostats are not to exspensive to replace.

If you have power only two thing's left are the thermostat's and the elements.

My water heater is making my electic meter spin like mad

Hi Is this powerstar AE115 a tankless water heater? I suspect the 115 designator in the model number means it runs on 115 volts. And what is the second Tank ? Storage or an electric water heater? Both should be rapped with insulation to hold the heat. Meaning storage or electric water. Don't rap a tankless water heater. At the very least get a licensed electricen in to make sure you electrical service will support a 240 volt system. If it can , do it. Think of electricity as a river flowing. Volts are the speed the water flows. Amps are the force ( Also caled Impedeance) that push the water.( And spin your meter like a top I might add.) And resistance as how many bolders, Rocks, Old fords that are in the river bed slowing down the flow of water. Now here is where OMES LAW comes in. E= I x R. (E) volts is equel to the (I) impedeance (Amps) multiplied by the ( R) resistance. You can spin this in a clockwise direction and find the net value by dividing one from the other to get the net. ( I = R * E ) If This is true ( and it is ) if we double the voltage (current) we can realise a reduction on the Impedeance (Amps) of up to 1/2 of its current value. In other words if you were useing 100 amps @115v you will use 50 amps @240v Depending on the resistance. Sorry but I forget the voltage drop on 100 feet of copper wire but I assure you its real low.But your best bet would be to use a tankless water heater core in you boiler that you use for heat if you got one and save the electric for summer mode.
