You are right. It is the resolution that was set too high. This can be easily fixed in Windows by booting into Safe Mode and lowering it.

There's a grinding sound whenever I press the needle position button & the error message "The safety Device have been activated" pops up on the screen

Sounds like the shuttle needs to be cleaned.

Turn off the power and open the needle plate.

Remove the bobbin and bobbin case.

Clean the area from lint and any thread that may be trapped.

My samsung 940N acts like a florescent tube, tries to start and doesn't

Use the self test feature.. follow the steps..

1. Turn off both your computer and the monitor.
2. Unplug the video cable from the back of the computer.
3. Turn on the monitor.
If the monitor is functioning properly, you will see a box in the illustration below.
This box appears during normal operation if the video cable becomes disconnected or
damaged.
4. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on both your computer and the
monitor.
If your monitor screen remains blank after using the previous procedure, check your video
controller and computer system; your monitor is functioning properly.

Warning

The Power supply inside the monitor can be hazardous and donot open the monitor while power on.

Donot work with the monitor when it is open and the power supply is on.

If there is something wrong with the input signal, a message appears on the screen or the
screen goes blank although the power indicator LED is still on. The message may indicate
that the monitor is out of scan range or that you need to check the signal cable.

Screen goes blank and message comes up saying "input signal out of range"

When does the screen go blank? Also what do you have plugged into it this most likely just because your input signal may be set at to high a resolution or frequency. Once I have more information I can assist you further.
Thanks,
Lee

Unsupported video signal

It is possible that Jewelquest changes the screen resolution to one that is not supported by the TV. I am not familiar with Jewelquest, but the typical reason for the unsupported message is a resolution outside of the supported range. The supported resolutions should be listed in the owner's manual. Screen goes blank at first try. Works after 1-2 tries.

this may be your inverter going bad. Inverter is the board(s) on the side of your TV that powers up your screen.

Monitor not supported

Well the monitor not being support is not the issue. the issue is the video card cannot produce a signal that is supported for the monitor. Its doing this to let you know also to lower your resolution because the monitor will pop if the resolutions is to high. the monitor itself does not matter if you had Vista as lond as the monitor agree with the signal your cool if it don't it will do this. Try lowing the res using another monitor then put the orginal back on and you should be good.

Thanks
