The thermal cut-out is located on the side of the heater housing assm. To gain access you need to use a putty knife to depress the two spring clips between the top and the front panel and raise the top. The heater is on the back wall. The part number for the t-stat and thermal cut-out kit is LA-1053 and is about $20.00. Don't forget to clean your vent, and check your blower assm. Either one could have caused the problem.

SOURCE: Dryer wont work!

A couple suggestions: (1) The switch in the front may be bad. It's the switch that turns the dryer off when you open the door. (2) Make sure the door latch keeps the door shut. If it is worn and the door isn't shut tight, the switch will not let it start. Hope this helps.

80 series kenmore dryer wont heat - blows cold air during drying cycle. Dryer is all electric.

Hi,
If your dryer doesn't heat, check these:

Power from the house
Heating element
Thermal fuse
Wiring
Power from the house Check to see whether there's power getting to the dryer. Is it plugged in? Check for blown fuses or tripped circuit breakers--your dryer uses two fuses or circuit breakers. The dryer could tumble but not heat if only one of the two fuses is blown. If you have circuit breakers, one of the two circuit breakers can trip, even if the two for the dryer are connected.

Heating element Often a dryer heating element burns out, but doesn't trip the circuit breaker or blow a fuse. The heating element is simply a long coil of special wire. You can check it for continuity with an ohm meter. No continuity means the element is bad and you need to replace it--electric heating elements aren't repairable.

Thermal fuse On many dryers, there's a thermal fuse mounted to the exhaust duct inside the back cover panel. The fuse--which is about an inch long--is usually embedded in black resin and mounted in a white plastic housing. If the fuse has blown, you need to replace it. (You can't re-set it.)

Wiring A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

I have a kenmore stackable washer/dryer. The dryer spins but does not heat. I looked at the owners manual and it states that one of the house fuses needs to be replaced. Where are the house fuses...

Hi jahusmc...

To find your house fuses/breakers look for a box that is mounted on a wall within the house.
It will have a metal door on the outside and will contain all the electrical circuts controlling the house.
Once you locate the main breaker box, look for a breaker in the box that looks "out of place" with all the other breakers, if you find one, recharge it by pulling/pushing on the toggle of the breaker to reset it. Once that is done you should have voltage again.
The easy way to see if you have voltage at the plug is to use a volt ohm meter, check the receptical for the correct voltage either 110-120 volts or 220 volts depending on what your dryer uses.
Please take time to rate me

I have no power to my kenmore elite dryer, model 110.87089601. I had a sudden power outgage and checked the circut brakers. Is there a reset button anywhere?

Unfortunately there is not a reset button or circuit breaker or even a fusible link in that model of dryer.

But before you panic, I would recommend that you trip and reset the dryer circuit breaker (unplug the dryer first) in your house circuit breaker panel to make sure it is really set. Then measure the volatage at the outlet for the dryer with a multimeter (remember it is 220V) to make sure you have both 110V legs at the outlet. If everything is good up to the outlet, you will need to open up your dryer cabinet to find out where you lose the voltage. When you get to a point that you have volatage on one side of a component but not on the other - that part is normally bad.

No power to dryer but have power at house...is there a reset button?

Check the circuit breaker in your housepanel. If it is tripped, resetting it will restore power BUT usually there is a reason for the breaker to trip. There may be an electrical problem with the dryer either an overload condition or a short circuit so check it's operation to be safe. If the breaker won't reset, unplug the dryer. If the breaker resets, then you have a problem in the dryer. if it still won't reset, then you have a problem in the wiring to the dryer outlet.

Where are home fuses located on the kenmore dryer?

If you were told to check the home fuses its the circuit breaker for the house. If the house is older it may have a small circuit breaker just for the dryer. Otherwise open the circuit breaker for the house and look for the dryer fuse. Usually 2 20amp breakers together. Flip it off and push towards off a little more to reset than flip back on.

My Kenmore 697267 dryer is not turning on. I took off the back and the button is connecting. What do I do next? Thank You!

Find your breaker box, reset the breaker to the dryer. If this doesn't work you will need to replace the thermal fuse located inside the dryer on the vent housing. You can go to www.partselect.com enter your complete model number. It will show you a break down of your unit. You will be able to find the part, see where the part goes and even buy it with a credit card. Good luck.

No heat will come from the dryer

Check the dryer breaker pair in the house electrical box. Push off, then on. If the breakers trip immediately, then you have a direct short circuit in the dryer, usually the heating element which involves removing the drum to get at the element(s). If the breakers hold, then try the dryer. If you get heat--ok. If drum turns, but no heat--check with a voltmeter across the two slanted slots in the power socket. You should read ~220 volts AC. If near zero, then one of the breakers is probably bad. Get an electrician to replace the breaker pair.

Dryer will not turn on

Normal 0 Hi, UNPLUG the dryer! Remove the rear panel of the dryer and locate the fuse. It is white and ¼” wide and 3” long. It is located on the blower housing. Remove the wires and check to see if it has continuity. If it does not, you need to replace it.
Please let me know if this help or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Dryer won't turn on.....

Its possible that you blew out the thermal fuse on most dryers it is located on the blower wheel housing. You can test the part with an ohm meter, if has continuity its good if not it's bad.
